Glomerular Hyperfiltration in Hypertensive African Americans [PDF]

open access: yesHypertension, 2000
Abstract —The incidence of end-stage renal disease attributable to hypertension is 5-fold greater in African Americans than in whites. To determine whether glomerular hyperfiltration is an antecedent to renal failure, we compared responses of renal blood flow and glomerular filtration rate to graded infusions of ...

A Mendelian randomization study on the causal association of circulating cytokines with diabetic nephropathy

open access: yesJournal of Diabetes Investigation, EarlyView.
We performed a two‐sample MR analysis to investigate the causal relationship between circulating cytokines and DN in individuals of European ancestry. We found evidence to support the causal role of genetically predicted circulating levels on the increased risk of DN, including interferon‐gamma, stem cell factor, and stromal‐cell‐derived factor 1 alpha,

Renal hyperfiltration and systemic blood pressure in patients with uncomplicated type 1 diabetes mellitus. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2013
Patients with type 1 diabetes mellitus (DM) and renal hyperfiltration also exhibit systemic microvascular abnormalities, including endothelial dysfunction. The effect of renal hyperfiltration on systemic blood pressure (BP) is less clear.

Impact of lifestyle on diabetic nephropathy in aged 18–64 years: A population‐based cross‐sectional analysis from NHANES 2007–2018

open access: yesJournal of Diabetes Investigation, EarlyView.
Lifestyle factors are closely associated with diabetic nephropathy. Both unhealthy eating habits and inadequate or excessive sleeping duration and physical activity contribute to an increased risk of diabetic nephropathy, whereas no statistically significant association was observed in smoking and drinking.

Method of forming dynamic membrane on stainless steel support [PDF]

open access: yes, 1988
A suitable member formed from sintered, powdered, stainless steel is contacted with a nitrate solution of a soluble alkali metal nitrate and a metal such as zirconium in a pH range and for a time sufficient to effect the formation of a membrane of ...

The Effect of Hyperfiltration on Kidney Function in Living Donor Kidney Transplantation: A Prospective Cohort Study

open access: yesActa Medica Indonesiana, 2020
Background: living kidney donation is a safe medical procedure. Kidney function after donation is crucial for donors’ health and quality of life. Kidney hyperfiltration is a compensatory mechanism, which will preserve kidney function after unilateral ...

Effect of Acetazolamide on Obesity-Induced Glomerular Hyperfiltration: A Randomized Controlled Trial. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2015
Obesity is an important risk factor for the development of chronic kidney disease. One of the major factors involved in the pathogenesis of obesity-associated kidney disease is glomerular hyperfiltration.

Glomerular ultrastructural change and vascular endothelial growth factor‐A expression in diabetic cats

open access: yesJournal of Small Animal Practice, EarlyView.
Objectives To evaluate the glomerular ultrastructural changes associated with diabetic nephropathy and quantify glomerular vascular endothelial growth factor‐A expression in cats with diabetes mellitus compared to controls. Materials and Methods Transmission electron microscopy was performed to evaluate glomerular ultrastructural changes, including ...

Dietary interventions to contrast the onset and progression of diabetic nephropathy. a critical survey of new data [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
This article is a critical overview of recent contributions on the dietary corrections and the foods that have been claimed to delay or hinder the onset of diabetic nephropathy (DN) and its progression to end-stage renal disease.

Excellent Clinical Long-Term Outcomes of Kidney Transplantation From Small Pediatric Donors (Age ≤ 5 Years) Despite Early Hyperfiltration Injury

open access: yesCanadian Journal of Kidney Health and Disease, 2023
Background: The use of small pediatric donors (age ≤ 5 years and body weight < 20kg) for adult transplant recipients is still regarded controversially in terms of early complications, long-term outcomes, and development of hyperfiltration injury due to ...
