The maximum negative hypergeometric distribution [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv: Statistics Theory, 2005
An urn contains a known number of balls of two different colors. We describe the random variable counting the smallest number of draws needed in order to observe at least $\,c\,$ of both colors when sampling without replacement for a pre-specified value of $\,c=1,2,\ldots\,$.

Multinomial and Hypergeometric Distributions in Markov Categories [PDF]

open access: yesElectronic Proceedings in Theoretical Computer Science, 2021
Markov categories, having tensors with copying and discarding, provide a setting for categorical probability. This paper uses finite colimits and what we call uniform states in such Markov categories to define a (fixed size) multiset functor, with basic operations for sums and zips of multisets, and a graded monad structure.

A new generalized beta function associated with statistical distribution and fractional kinetic equation

open access: yesBoletim da Sociedade Paranaense de Matemática
Several authors have extensively investigated beta function, hypergeometric function and confluent  hypergeometric function, their extensions and generalizations due to their several application in many areas of engineering, probability theory and ...

Distributions of the Ratio and Product of Two Independent Weibull and Lindley Random Variables

open access: yesJournal of Probability and Statistics, 2020
In this paper, we derive the cumulative distribution functions (CDF) and probability density functions (PDF) of the ratio and product of two independent Weibull and Lindley random variables.

Generalized Hypergeometric Coherent States [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
We introduce a large class of holomorphic quantum states by choosing their normalization functions to be given by generalized hypergeometric functions. We call them generalized hypergeometric states in general, and generalized hypergeometric coherent states in particular, if they allow a resolution of unity.

Acceptance sampling for attributes via hypothesis testing and the hypergeometric distribution

open access: yes, 2018
This paper questions some aspects of attribute acceptance sampling in light of the original concepts of hypothesis testing from Neyman and Pearson (NP).

Pathway Analyses of Inherited Neuropathies Identify Putative Common Mechanisms of Axon Degeneration

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Inherited neuropathies (IN) are associated with over 100 different genetic mutations presenting with a variety of phenotypes. This complexity suggests multiple pathways may converge onto a limited number of downstream pathways to effect axonal injury.

Bernstein-type bounds for beta distribution

open access: yesModern Stochastics: Theory and Applications, 2023
This work obtains sharp closed-form exponential concentration inequalities of Bernstein type for the ubiquitous beta distribution, improving upon sub-Gaussian and sub-gamma bounds previously studied in this context.

SOME PROPERTIES OF CONVOLUTION FOR HYPERGEOMETRIC DISTRIBUTION TYPE SERIES ON CERTAIN ANALYTIC UNIVALENT FUNCTIONS

open access: yes, 2018
The purpose of the present paper is to obtain certain sufficient conditions for hypergeometric distribution type series on certain analytic univalent functions. 2010 Mathematics Subject Classification: 30C45.

Stimulated Raman Scattering with Optical Vortex Beams

open access: yesAdvanced Photonics Research, EarlyView.
This study presents exact analytical expressions for stimulated Raman scattering with Laguerre‐Gaussian beams, revealing signal dependence on topological and hyperbolic momentum. The results provide a theoretical foundation for coherent Raman imaging and detecting orbital angular momentum of light via structured light in nonlinear optics.
