Challenges in differential diagnosis between primary and secondary forms of hyperparathyroidism

Sensitivity and Specificity of Dual-Isotope 99mTc-Tetrofosmin and 123I Sodium Iodide Single Photon Emission Computed Tomography (SPECT) in Hyperparathyroidism. [PDF]
Despite recommendations for 99mTc-tetrofosmin dual tracer imaging for hyperparathyroidism in current guidelines, no report was published on dual-isotope 99mTc-tetrofosmin and 123I sodium iodide single-photon-emission-computed-tomography (SPECT).

Hyperparathyroidism in Pregnancy
Summary Primary hyperparathyroidism in pregnancy is uncommon and easily overlooked. It is associated with a complication rate of up to 80 per cent—mainly stillbirths, abortions and neonatal tetany. Surgical treatment during pregnancy offers the best chance for fetal and neonatal survival.
