On contact loci of hyperplane arrangements

open access: yesAdvances in Applied Mathematics, 2022
We give an explicit expression for the contact loci of hyperplane arrangements and show that their cohomology rings are combinatorial invariants. We also give an expression for the restricted contact loci in terms of Milnor fibers of associated hyperplane arrangements.

Pickin' up good vibrations: a systematic review of footfall detection and analysis in the realm of wildlife surveying

open access: yesWildlife Biology, EarlyView.
Exploration of new wildlife surveying methodologies that leverage advances in sensor technology and machine learning has led to tentative research into the application of seismology techniques. This, most commonly, involves the deployment of a footfall trap – a seismic sensor and data logger customised for wildlife footfall.

Probing the arrangement of hyperplanes

open access: yesDiscrete Applied Mathematics, 1995
The paper contains results about the combinatorial complexity of the geometry and topology related to an arrangement \(H\) of hyperplanes, obtained by the operation of ``probing'' by a flat \(F\) (using the respective intersection of \(H\) and \(F)\).

Moduli Theory of the r-Braid Arrangement

open access: yesForum of Mathematics, Sigma
We describe a family of hyperplane arrangements depending on a positive integer parameter r, which we refer to as the r-braid arrangements, and which can be viewed as a generalization of the classical braid arrangement.

Optimasi Support Vector Machine untuk Memprediksi Adanya Mutasi pada DNA Hepatitis C Virus

open access: yesJurnal Nasional Teknik Elektro dan Teknologi Informasi, 2018
Hepatitis C Virus (HCV) is a virus which capable of infecting RNA that can lead to changes in the DNA sequence. This change of DNA arrangement is called genetic mutation. Every mutation occurs in HCV, it will be called a new subtype.

Machine Learning and Geospatial Modeling of Climate Change Impacts on Ethiopian Honeybees for Conservation and Resilient Agriculture

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 16, Issue 6, June 2026.
The current study used machine learning and geospatial analysis to predict how climate change will loosen and fragment suitable habitats for Ethiopian honeybees. Main factors like agro‐ecological zones and dry‐season precipitation were found to be critical for bee survival.

Functions of random walks on hyperplane arrangements

open access: yes, 2010
Many seemingly disparate Markov chains are unified when viewed as random walks on the set of chambers of a hyperplane arrangement. These include the Tsetlin library of theoretical computer science and various shuffling schemes.

Morphisms and Order Ideals of Toric Posets

open access: yesMathematics, 2016
Toric posets are in some sense a natural “cyclic” version of finite posets in that they capture the fundamental features of a partial order but without the notion of minimal or maximal elements.

Lattice Point Counts for the Shi Arrangement and other affinographic hyperplane arrangements

open access: yes, 2006
Hyperplanes of the form xj = xi + c are called affinographic. For an affinographic hyperplane arrangement in R n, such as the Shi arrangement, we study the function f(m) that counts integral points in [1, m] n that do not lie in any hyperplane of the ...

Psychopathy traits and their link to emotion recognition impairments in conduct disorder

open access: yesJCPP Advances, Volume 6, Issue 2, June 2026.
Abstract Background Neurocognitive models suggest that callous‐unemotional (CU) traits in youths with conduct disorder (CD) are linked to emotion recognition impairments, particularly in identifying distress emotions like fear and sadness. However, CD may be accompanied by grandiose‐manipulative (GM) and/or impulsive‐irresponsible (II) traits in ...
