Persistent in vitro nociceptor hyperexcitability and axonal retraction produced by repeated paclitaxel doses

open access: yesThe FEBS Journal, EarlyView.
Repeated paclitaxel exposure causes long‐lasting nociceptor hyperexcitability and axonal retraction in adult sensory neurons. Using a long‐term primary nociceptor culture, we show that hyperexcitability is mediated by sequential upregulation of NaV1.8, TRPV1, TRPA1, and TRPM8 channels.

Transgenic selection and underlying mechanisms in apicomplexan parasites

open access: yesThe FEBS Journal, EarlyView.
Transgenic selection markers have driven genetic engineering in apicomplexans, enabling precise, iterative experiments. This review discusses mechanistic details of drug selection markers, strategies for marker recycling, and practical considerations for several clinically relevant parasites.

Experiencing and Responding to Existential Vulnerability: Navigating the Work–Fertility Treatment Interface

open access: yesGender, Work &Organization, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The need to undergo fertility treatment to fulfill parenthood aspirations involves many challenges in professional and personal domains. Extant scholarship has tended to focus on the identity threats and individual experiences of the challenges involved, but research has not delved into the more relational experiences that may characterize ...

Defining the Role of Nurses in Gene Therapy for Haemophilia

open access: yesHaemophilia, EarlyView.
Abstract Introduction Haemophilia is a rare bleeding disorder now undergoing a major shift in care as gene therapy (GT), delivered through viral‑vector in vivo gene transfer, has enabled adults with haemophilia A or B to stop prophylaxis with minimal bleeding.

The pharmacology of gepants in migraine: A scoping review on mechanisms, clinical applications, and combination strategies

open access: yesHeadache: The Journal of Head and Face Pain, EarlyView.
Abstract Background Calcitonin gene‐related peptide (CGRP) is a key mediator in migraine pathophysiology, and the development of gepants, novel CGRP receptor antagonists, has expanded therapeutic options for both acute and preventive treatment. This scoping review aims to synthesize current evidence on the pharmacology, clinical applications, safety ...
