ABSTRACT The SAPIEN M3 system has been recently approved for transcatheter mitral valve replacement (TMVR). The transeptal guide sheath is used to deploy the dock, which is completely released before inserting and deploying the M3 valve using the same femoral access, transeptal puncture (TSP) and guide sheath.

Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy in Donohue syndrome
We report the case of a patient with Donohue syndrome who died of heart failure due to obstructive hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. A literature survey revealed that hypertrophic cardiomyopathy was present in 30% of these patients and was often fatal ...

ABSTRACT The cytoskeleton of striated muscle integrates force transmission, mechanotransduction, and sarcolemmal stability through coordinated networks of sarcomeres, costameres, and intermediate filaments. Together, these systems establish mechanical continuity between the contractile apparatus, the sarcolemma, and the extracellular matrix.

Assembly and Maintenance of Myofibrils in the Heart
ABSTRACT The assembly of actin and myosin to the paracrystalline arrangement of myofibrils in striated muscle, that is, heart and skeletal, has puzzled many a cell biologist. Different models, based on cultured cardiomyocytes, were proposed for the last 30 years to explain the sequence of events.

ABSTRACT We here describe mouse models with complementary homozygous Svil mutations. In skeletal muscle, Svil‐Mut mice express the Svil‐encoded N‐terminus fused to the βgal‐neo gene‐trap tag and lack the highly conserved archvillin C‐terminus; Svil‐KO mice lack expression of all known Svil‐encoded proteins; and Svil‐LoxP mice contain loxP sites for ...

Hypertrophic myocardiopathy. Management during pregnancy and labour
Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy is not a single disease, but a group of diseases caused by mutations in genes encoding different sarcomeric proteins. The phenotype expression depends on multiple genetic and environmental factors. In this paper, we describe a

Abstract Background The notochord is a midline structure essential for vertebrate embryogenesis, contributing to the development of the nervous system, digestive tract, and vertebral column. In particular, notochord signaling is indispensable for proper patterning and coordinated development of alternating vertebrae and intervertebral discs (IVDs ...

Role of SoxE transcription factors in development and disease
Abstract Sox8, Sox9, and Sox10 arose by multiple rounds of genome duplications from a single SoxE gene in ancestral vertebrates. In this review, we will briefly discuss the molecular structure and function of SoxE transcription factors and their evolutionary origin. We will then discuss their expression, function, and developmental disorders.
