Biomimetic Design of Biocompatible Neural Probes for Deep Brain Signal Monitoring and Stimulation: Super Static Interface for Immune Response‐Enhanced Contact

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Ultrathin, flexible neural probes are developed with an innovative, biomimetic design incorporating brain tissue‐compatible materials. The material system employs biomolecule‐based encapsulation agents to mitigate inflammatory responses, as demonstrated through comprehensive in vitro and in vivo studies.

Self supervised convolutional kernel based handcrafted feature harmonization: Enhanced left ventricle hypertension disease phenotyping on echocardiography [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2023
Radiomics, a medical imaging technique, extracts quantitative handcrafted features from images to predict diseases. Harmonization in those features ensures consistent feature extraction across various imaging devices and protocols. Methods for harmonization include standardized imaging protocols, statistical adjustments, and evaluating feature ...

Adenoviral delivery of angiotensin-(1-7) or angiotensin-(1-9) inhibits cardiomyocyte hypertrophy via the mas or angiotensin Type 2 receptor [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
The counter-regulatory axis of the renin angiotensin system peptide angiotensin-(1-7) [Ang-(1-7)] has been identified as a potential therapeutic target in cardiac remodelling, acting via the mas receptor.

CAMTA in Cardiac Hypertrophy [PDF]

open access: yesCell, 2006
In this issue of Cell, the Calmodulin binding transcription activator 2 (CAMTA2), is shown by Song et al. (2006) to be an indispensable transcription coactivator for cardiac hypertrophy. CAMTA2 is activated by the dissociation of class II histone deacetylase 5 and promotes transcription of genes involved in cardiac hypertrophy through its interaction ...

Biologically‐Inspired Melt Electrowriting for the Generation of Highly Biomimetic Functional Myocardium

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
In this work, melt electrowriting is used to fabricate a 3D printed scaffold design that generates engineered cardiac tissues with in‐plane contraction, mimicking natural myocardium. It is shown that these tissues display advanced maturation and functionality.

Cyclin-dependent kinases as drug targets for cell growth and proliferation disorders. A role for systems biology approach in drug development. Part II - CDKs as drug targets in hypertrophic cell growth. Modelling of drugs targeting CDKs [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Cyclin-dependent kinases (CDKs) are key regulators of cell growth and proliferation. Impaired regulation of their activity leads to various diseases such as cancer and heart hypertrophy.

Mechanics of chondrocyte hypertrophy [PDF]

open access: yesBiomechanics and Modeling in Mechanobiology, 2011
Chondrocyte hypertrophy is a characteristic of osteoarthritis and dominates bone growth. Intra- and extracellular changes that are known to be induced by metabolically active hypertrophic chondrocytes are known to contribute to hypertrophy. However, it is unknown to which extent these mechanical conditions together can be held responsible for the total

Cardiomyocyte gene programs encoding morphological and functional signatures in cardiac hypertrophy and failure

open access: yesNature Communications, 2018
Pressure overload induces a transition from cardiac hypertrophy to heart failure, but its underlying mechanisms remain elusive. Here we reconstruct a trajectory of cardiomyocyte remodeling and clarify distinct cardiomyocyte gene programs encoding ...

An In Situ Curing, Shear‐Responsive Biomaterial Designed for Durable Embolization of Microvasculature

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
NeoCast is a next‐generation, solvent‐free, non‐adhesive liquid embolic designed for indications where deep occlusion is desired (e.g., tumors and chronic subdural hematoma). This novel agent offers ideal embolic properties: injectability, controllability, excellent visibility, and biocompatibility.
