On the Granulosis of Hyphantria cunea DRURY
アメリカシロヒトリの顆粒病の病徴について記載した。顆粒体から分離したウイルス粒子は桿状で300∼350×50∼65mμの大きさであった。罹病幼虫の脂肪組織細胞の細胞質内に顆粒体とウイルス粒子が認められた。顆粒病ウイルスと核多角体病ウイルスの病原性はほぼ同じで,両ウイルスを混合して接種した場合も大差なかった。アメリカシロヒトリの顆粒病ウイルスはカイコ幼虫に対して病原性を示さなかった。

Virus Diseases of Hyphantria cunea DRURY
1959年と1965年の第2世代のアメリカシロヒトリに核多角体病の大発生が認められた。多角体の大きさは1∼2μで形は6面体と4面体のものがあった。真皮,脂肪組織,気管皮膜などの細胞核内に多角体が形成された。感染初期の細胞では核の中央部に染色質の塊りがありこの部分に桿状ウイルス粒子(360×30mμ)が多数認められた。核の周辺部ではウイルス粒子は2∼14本の束になっており,これらの束を包みこんだ多角体が散在していた。感染末期には核全体が多角体で充満し,ついには細胞が崩壊した。6面体と4面体の多角体を作るウイルスの間に干渉が認められ,4面体ウイルスの方が6面体ウイルスより増殖速度が早いと考えられた。アメリカシロヒトリの核多角体病ウイルスはカイコ幼虫に対して病原性を示さなかった ...
