Analysis of Hypocenter Relocation by Using Double Difference Method in a Deep Underground Mining

open access: yesIOP Conference Series: Earth and Environmental Science, 2021
Abstract Hypocenter relocation is one of the keys to success in the analysis of seismicity induction in underground mines. Overburden thickness, topography, geological complexity, and mining activities can result in newly induced seismicity that can endanger the safety of underground mine workers.

Relocation of the Hypocenter of an Earthquake with the Double Difference Method in the Mentawai

open access: yesJurnal Geocelebes
This research aimed to accurately relocate the hypocenter of earthquakes in the Mentawai region to enhance precision in hypocenter determination. The arrival time data used were secondary data recorded in the seiscomp4 software at BMKG Class I Padang Panjang.

Relocation of Earthquake Hypocenter Using Double-Difference Method in Western Part of Sumatera

open access: yesJournal of Physics: Conference Series, 2023
Abstract The western part of Sumatra has a fairly complex tectonic setting where there is a convergent meeting between the Indo-Australian plate and the Eurasian plate. These plates form a subduction zone and also the Sumatran Fault. The subduction zone and the Sumatran Fault cause many earthquakes in western Sumatra.

Hypocenter relocation analysis of 7.5 Mw Palu and its aftershocks: A preliminary result

open access: yesJournal of Physics: Conference Series, 2019
Abstract The earthquake that occurred in the Palu city and its surroundings on September 28, 2018, with a magnitude of 7.5 Mw caused a lot of casualties and infrastructure damages. Tsunami and liquefaction are secondary effects that contribute significantly to these two losses. The earthquake occurred at the Palu Koro Fault with a strike-

Relocation of Hypocenters of the Induced Activity in Bebedouro, Paraná Basin, Brazil

Proceedings of the 4 Simpósio Brasileiro de Geofísica, 2010
Shallow seismic activity with magnitudes up to 2.9 and intensities V MM has been observed in the Bebedouro rural area, Northeast of Sao Paulo State, Brazil, since 2004, near to deep wells (120–200 m) that were drilled in early 2003. The wells were drilled for irrigation purposes, cross a sandstone layer about 60–80 m thick and extract water from a ...

Hypocenter Relocation Using Fast Marching Method (FMM) in Tarutung

Construction Technologies and Architecture
Tarutung is a geothermal potential region and has relatively high seismicity due to the Sumatra fault system and young arc volcanism. There were many recorded significant earthquakes occurred in Tarutung. The seismic activity proves that a good understanding of the Tarutung tectonics is necessary.

Velocity models and hypocenter relocations for the Charlevoix Seismic Zone

Journal of Geophysical Research: Solid Earth, 2017
AbstractThree‐dimensional P and S wave velocity (Vp and Vs) models and hypocenter relocations are determined for the Charlevoix Seismic Zone (CSZ) using local arrival time tomography. The CSZ is located along the St. Lawrence River about 100 km downstream from Quebec City, Canada, and is one of the most active seismic zones in eastern North America ...

Relocation of shallow earthquakes in southern Alaska using Joint Hypocenter Determination method

Journal of Seismology, 1998
A subset of 2660 shallow earthquakes (0–50 km) that occurred from 1988 to 1996 in south central Alaska between 155°W and 145°W and 59°N and 63°N was relocated using the joint hypocenter determination (JHD) method. Both P- and S-wave observations recorded by the regional seismic network were used.
