A spectroscopic probe for hypochlorous acid detection
Spectrochimica Acta Part A: Molecular and Biomolecular Spectroscopy, 2022A spectroscopic probe CMBT was synthesized and characterized. CMBT showed the specific recognition for HClO based on the turn-on blue fluorescence and naked-eye change from pink to colorless. NMR, IR, HRMS-ESI, and spectral analysis suggested that colorimetric and fluorescent change of CMBT to HClO originated from the conversion of CMBT to starting ...

THE ACTION OF HYPOCHLOROUS ACID ON ARYLIDENECYANOACETIC ACIDS
Canadian Journal of Research, 1932The action of hypochlorous acid on p-methoxybenzylidenecyanoacetic acid has been found to produce p-methoxyphenylacetic acid. When treated in the same way, o-methoxybenzylidene-, veratrylidene- and piperonylidenecyanoacetic acids give the corresponding substituted phenylacetic acids in moderately good yields.

Reactions of pholasin with peroxidases and hypochlorous acid
Free Radical Biology and Medicine, 2000The ability of myeloperoxidase (MPO) and horseradish peroxidase (HRP) to induce chemiluminescence (CL) in Pholasin (Knight Scientific, Plymouth, UK), the photoprotein of the Common Piddock Pholas dactylus, was studied. The oxidation of Pholasin by compound I or II of HRP induced an intense light emission, whereas native HRP showed only a small effect ...

Immunoglobulin cleavage by hypochlorous acid treatment
Clinica Chimica Acta, 1995IgA, IgG and IgM were cleaved by hypochlorous acid treatment. The apparent calculated molecular masses of three polypeptides obtained from IgA were 81.1. 25.8 and 13.9 kDa. The amounts of released IgA fragments were proportional to the amount of HOCl employed.

The Reaction of Hemoproteins with Hypochlorous Acid
Chemistry Letters, 2008Abstract We have studied absorption spectral changes and heme modifications in the reaction of horseradish peroxidase (HRP), myoglobin (Mb), or bovine liver catalase (BLC) with hypochlorous acid (HOCl). Under acidic condition, HOCl is easily released from an FeIII–HOCl complex.

Effects of hypochlorous acid on unsaturated phosphatidylcholines
Free Radical Biology and Medicine, 2001Effects of hypochlorous acid and of the myeloperoxidase-hydrogen peroxide-chloride system on mono- and polyunsaturated phosphatidylcholines were analyzed by means of matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization time-of-flight mass spectrometry (MALDI-TOF MS).

THE DECOMPOSITION OF HYPOCHLOROUS ACID
Canadian Journal of Chemistry, 1952The rate of decomposition of hypochlorous acid has been measured in aqueous solution in the presence of much sodium hypochlorite. The rate is nearly independent of the hypochlorite concentration, and proportional to the square of the hypochlorous acid concentration. Hence the mechanism proposed is[Formula: see text][Formula: see text]The first step is

Photocatalytic Production of Hypochlorous Acid over Pt/WO3 under Simulated Solar Light
ACS Sustainable Chemistry and Engineering, 2020The production of hypochlorous acid (HClO) over a visible-light active photocatalyst was achieved for the first time in an aqueous solution of NaCl under simulated solar light.

Hypochlorous acid reversibly inhibits caspase-3: a potential regulator of apoptosis
Free radical research, 2020Caspase-3 is involved in apoptosis. Here, we examine whether hypochlorous acid (HOCl), a final product of myeloperoxidase (MPO), is a modulator of caspase-3 at relatively low concentrations and also its application on metaphase II mouse oocytes.
