The mechanism by which epithelial cells rearrange is a process that is central to epithelial morphogenesis, yet remains poorly understood. We have investigated epithelial cell rearrangement in the dorsal hypodermis of the Caenorhabditis elegans embryo, in which two rows of epithelial cells rearrange in a morphogenetic process known as dorsal ...

The development of treatments using stem cells has drawn the attention of researchers to fat deposits given the fact they represent an almost unlimited reservoir of such cells, which can be accessed through minimally invasive techniques. However, the standardization of these studies has been made difficult because of the controversies of nomenclature ...

Both asymmetric mitotic segregation and cell-to-cell invasion are required for stable germline transmission of Wolbachia in filarial nematodes. [PDF]
Parasitic filarial nematodes that belong to the Onchocercidae family live in mutualism with Wolbachia endosymbionts. We developed whole-mount techniques to follow the segregation patterns of Wolbachia through the somatic and germline lineages of four ...

Geochemical support for a climbing habit within the Paleozoic seed fern genus Medullosa [PDF]
A long-standing problem in paleobotany is the accurate identification of the growth habits and statures of fossil plants. Tissue-specific analysis of stable carbon isotope ratios in plant fossils can provide an independent perspective on this issue ...

We assessed alpha‐ and beta‐diversity patterns of spiders across different forests and across vegetation layers (ground, shrub, low canopy) at local spatial scales across various Mediterranean forest types. Across forests, alpha‐diversity increased with habitat heterogeneity, which also drove beta‐diversity patterns across plots .
