Randomized trial to assess worsening renal function by adding dapagliflozin for acute decompensated heart failure

open access: yesESC Heart Failure, EarlyView.
Abstract Aims Dapagliflozin (DAPA), a sodium‐glucose co‐transporter 2 inhibitor, has been shown to reduce cardiovascular mortality among patients with chronic heart failure. We aimed to evaluate the impact on a worsening renal function (WRF) by adding DAPA as compared to standard decongestive therapy with loop diuretics alone.

Decreased endogenous nitric oxide production in acute decompensated heart failure with a reduced ejection fraction

open access: yesESC Heart Failure, EarlyView.
Abstract Aims Heart failure represents a substantial burden to both patients and healthcare systems worldwide. Nitric oxide (NO) dysregulation may play a key role in patients transitioning from chronic to acute heart failure with a reduced ejection fraction (HFrEF). Plasma nitrite (NO2−) is highly reflective of local nitric oxide production and has not

Characterization of binding by repaglinide and nateglinide with glycated human serum albumin using high‐performance affinity microcolumns

open access: yesJournal of Separation Science, Volume 45, Issue 23, Page 4176-4186, December 2022., 2022
High‐performance affinity microcolumns were used to characterize binding by the anti‐diabetic drugs repaglinide and nateglinide with normal and glycated forms of human serum albumin. The microcolumns contained only nmol amounts of protein and provided a detailed analysis of these drug interactions with good precision and in a matter of minutes per ...

Dapagliflozin effect on functional mitral regurgitation and myocardial remodelling: The DEFORM trial

open access: yesESC Heart Failure, EarlyView.
Abstract Aims Functional mitral regurgitation (FMR) is associated with adverse outcomes in patients with heart failure, and current guideline‐directed medical therapy (GDMT) offers limited efficacy in managing FMR. This study aims to evaluate the therapeutic impact of the sodium‐glucose cotransporter 2 inhibitor (SGLT2i) dapagliflozin in patients with ...

Association of ventricular–arterial coupling with biomarkers involved in heart failure pathophysiology – the STANISLAS cohort

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Heart Failure, EarlyView.
Association of ventricular–arterial coupling with heart failure (HF) biomarkers in the STANISLAS cohort. MMP, matrix metalloproteinase; NT‐proBNP, N‐terminal pro‐B‐type natriuretic peptide. Aims Impaired left ventricular–arterial coupling (VAC) has been shown to correlate with worse prognosis in cardiac diseases and heart failure (HF).
