Genetics and hypogonadotrophic hypogonadism

Current Opinion in Obstetrics and Gynecology, 2002
Hypothalamic pulsatile gonadotrophin-releasing hormone secretion, stimulating pituitary gonadotrophin secretion, is essential for adult reproductive function. This neuroendocrine drive to the reproductive axis is critically dependent on a sequence of developmental events in utero.

FAMILIAL IDIOPATHIC HYPOGONADOTROPHIC HYPOGONADISM

Acta Endocrinologica, 1977
ABSTRACT A new case of familial idiopathic hypogonadotrophic hypogonadism is presented: 3 males and 2 females among 9 siblings are affected. Very low to non-detectable levels of plasma LH and FSH levels were found in each patient. LH-RH stimulation test gave in one male a slight increase in plasma LH levels while no change was observed in the others ...

Moebius sequence and hypogonadotrophic hypogonadism

American Journal of Medical Genetics Part A, 2003
AbstractA distinct form of Moebius sequence is associated with hypogonadotrophic hypogonadism. There have been five such cases to date. We now add a further case with detailed neurologic, endocrine, and autopsy findings and offer a hypothesis drawing parallels with the already established basis of hypogonadotrophic hypogonadism in the X‐linked form of ...

Idiopathic Hypogonadotrophic Hypogonadal Primary Amenorrhea*

The Journal of Clinical Endocrinology & Metabolism, 1978
A group of eight patients with idiopathic primary amenorrhea was studied in whom no organic or genetic lesion could be identified. To evaluate the hypothalamic-pituitary axis a sequential stimulation test (SST) was employed using insulin-induced hypoglycemia, followed by a combination of GnRH and TRH with a subsequent dose of GnRH.

Hypogonadotrophic hypogonadism in Roifman syndrome

Clinical Genetics, 2000
The combination of spondyloepiphyseal dysplasia, humoral immune deficiency, growth retardation, intellectual deficit and characteristic facial dysmorphism has recently been delineated as a discrete disorder thus far only reported in males. This report describes a fifth individual with co‐existent hypogonadotrophic hypogonadism, thereby expanding the ...
