Perspectives of the non-statin hypolipidemic agents

Pharmacology & Therapeutics, 2010
This review focuses on the non-statin strategies for the treatment of hyperlipidemias in humans. Even if statins remain the major hypolipidemic drugs at present, an increasing number of patients that are treated with statins raises as well the numbers of patients suffering from side effects or not responding well to the therapy.

Biological Evaluation of Chalcones and Analogues as Hypolipidemic Agents

Archiv Der Pharmazie, 2006
AbstractIn order to evaluate the anti‐hyperlipidemic effect of synthetic chalcones and some analogues, nineteen compounds with different substituents in both rings were synthesized and hypolipidemic activities were measured in vivo using Triton WR1339 acute and hypercaloric chronic assays.

Studies of hypolipidemic agents. 1. Synthesis and hypolipidemic activities of alkoxycinnamic acid derivatives

Journal of Medicinal Chemistry, 1980
More than 110 derivatives of alkoxycinnamic acids were synthesized and their hypolipidemic activities were evaluated in a screening system with rats. Cinnamic acids, alpha-methylcinnamic acids, and their various esters with a higher p-alkoxy substituent were found to possess hypolipidemic activities higher than or comparable to that of clofibrate.

Hypolipidemic agents alter hepatic mitochondrial respiration in vitro

Comparative Biochemistry and Physiology C, Comparative Pharmacology and Toxicology, 1995
The direct effects of three different classes of structurally diverse hypolipidemic agents on respiration were studied in mitochondria isolated from donor Sprague-Dawley rats. Two classes of peroxisome proliferators (i.e. plasticizers and hypolipidemic hormones and drugs) and one class of peroxisome inhibitors (i.e.

Novel Euglycemic and Hypolipidemic Agents. 1

Journal of Medicinal Chemistry, 1998
A series of [[(heterocyclyl)ethoxy]benzyl]-2,4-thiazolidinediones have been synthesized by the condensation of corresponding aldehyde 1 and 2,4-thiazolidinedione followed by hydrogenation. Both unsaturated thiazolidinedione 2 and its saturated counterpart 3 have shown antihyperglycemic activity.

Synthesis of Potential Hypolipidemic Agents

Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences, 1969
Derivatives of 2-(p-chlorophenoxy)-2-methylpropionic acid (I) and 2-(p-chlorophenylthio)-2-methylpropionic acid (II) have been synthesized for the purpose of studying their potential hypolipidemic activity.

Adipokines and Lipoproteins: Modulation by Antihyperglycemic and Hypolipidemic Agents

Metabolic Syndrome and Related Disorders, 2014
Adipose tissue is an endocrine organ that secretes a number of hormones and metabolically active substances that impact energy metabolism and insulin sensitivity. These inflammatory markers are collectively referred to as adipocytokines, or adipokines.
