Novel Euglycemic and Hypolipidemic Agents. 1

Journal of Medicinal Chemistry, 1998
A series of [[(heterocyclyl)ethoxy]benzyl]-2,4-thiazolidinediones have been synthesized by the condensation of corresponding aldehyde 1 and 2,4-thiazolidinedione followed by hydrogenation. Both unsaturated thiazolidinedione 2 and its saturated counterpart 3 have shown antihyperglycemic activity.

Perspectives of the non-statin hypolipidemic agents

Pharmacology & Therapeutics, 2010
This review focuses on the non-statin strategies for the treatment of hyperlipidemias in humans. Even if statins remain the major hypolipidemic drugs at present, an increasing number of patients that are treated with statins raises as well the numbers of patients suffering from side effects or not responding well to the therapy.

Studies of hypolipidemic agents. 1. Synthesis and hypolipidemic activities of alkoxycinnamic acid derivatives

Journal of Medicinal Chemistry, 1980
More than 110 derivatives of alkoxycinnamic acids were synthesized and their hypolipidemic activities were evaluated in a screening system with rats. Cinnamic acids, alpha-methylcinnamic acids, and their various esters with a higher p-alkoxy substituent were found to possess hypolipidemic activities higher than or comparable to that of clofibrate.

Synthesis of Potential Hypolipidemic Agents

Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences, 1969
Derivatives of 2-(p-chlorophenoxy)-2-methylpropionic acid (I) and 2-(p-chlorophenylthio)-2-methylpropionic acid (II) have been synthesized for the purpose of studying their potential hypolipidemic activity.

Lentysine: A new hypolipidemic agent from a mushroom

Life Sciences, 1970
Abstract The actions of lentysine on the serum and liver lipids in rats have been investigated. Lentysine markedly reduced serum cholesterol, phospholipids and triglycerides, both in intact rats and in animals fed a high fat diet. However, this substance showed no effect on liver lipid levels.

Metabolic Effects of a New Hypolipidemic Agent, Ciprofibrate

Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences, 1979
Ciprofibrate, a new orally effective hypolipidemic agent like clofibrate, suppressed tyloxapol-induced hypercholesterolemia in rats. Ciprofibrate at 10 mg/kg was effective. Clofibrate required a dosage of 180 mg/kg to suppress the tyloxapol effect. Norepinephrine-induced free fatty acid release was inhibited by clofibrate in rats in accordance with ...
