Impact of Preoperative Calcium and Magnesium Supplementation on Quality of Life and Hypocalcemia Post-Thyroidectomy. [PDF]

open access: yesEndocrinol Diabetes Metab
Postoperative QoL improved in both groups, with earlier gains in Graves' disease patients receiving supplementation. Hypocalcemia and hypoparathyroidism rates were lower in the intervention group, which also showed higher calcium levels and fewer symptoms. Vitamin D deficiency was common but unrelated to hypocalcemia.
