Hypoprothrombinemia as a Complication of Propylthiouracil
JAMA, 1964PROPYLTHIOURACIL is of recognized value in the therapy of hyperthyroidism and the various adverse reactions to it have been thoroughly reviewed. Leukopenia and agranulocytosis are the most prominent hematologic reactions. In addition, purpura has been described.

Hypoprothrombinemia Associated With Cefoperazone Therapy
Southern Medical Journal, 1987Cefoperazone, a beta-lactam antibiotic with a methylthiotetrazole side chain, has been reported infrequently to cause hypoprothrombinemia and hemorrhage. We retrospectively analyzed the records of 80 patients who had been given this drug for more than 72 hours.

Congenital Hypoprothrombinemia in a Portuguese Family
Thrombosis and Haemostasis, 1973SummaryA new case of congenital hypoprothrombinemia is described, in which the level of factor II in the propositus has been consistently near 1 per cent. Several specific assays of this factor have been used, including an immunochemical assay that rules out the presence of an abnormal molecule of prothrombin.

Antibiotic-associated hypoprothrombinemia
Infectious Diseases Newsletter, 1992Abstract An individual patient's vitamin K status and concomitant risk factors related to underlying disease determine the likelihood of hypoprothrombinemia and bleeding in patients requiring antibiotics. Patients at highest risk should be identified and monitored more aggressively or given prophylactic vitamin K.

Hypoprothrombinemia Associated with Cefamandole [PDF]
Seven patients developed hypoprothrombinemia during the course of cefamandole therapy. In three cases, overt hemorrhaging resulted. After the administration of vitamin K, bleeding stopped and the prothrombin time returned to normal. A significant contributing factor was poor dietary intake, with a mean of 7.3 days with no oral intake.

Zhonghua xue ye xue za zhi = Zhonghua xueyexue zazhiThe Hypoprothrombinemia-Lupus Anticoagulant Syndrome (HLAS) is a rare coagulation disorder, typically presenting with bleeding manifestations. It is characterized by decreased prothrombin activity and the presence of lupus anticoagulant, but laboratory ...

Determinants of Antibiotic‐associated Hypoprothrombinemia
Pharmacotherapy: The Journal of Human Pharmacology and Drug Therapy, 1987Hypoprothrombinemia is a relatively uncommon event in the hospitalized patient. When it does occur, it often is associated with surgery, dietary vitamin K deficiency, renal dysfunction, malignancy, and broad‐spectrum antibiotic therapy. Several mechanisms have been proposed to account for antibiotic‐associated hypoprothrombinemia, including eradication
