Cholecystokinin in the hypothalamo-hypophyseal system
Brain Research, 1984Immunohistochemical studies on cholecystokinin-like (CCK-ir) substances in colchicine-pretreated rats demonstrated that in addition to CCK-ir cells in the magnocellular portion of the paraventricular nucleus. CCK-ir cells are also present among the parvocellular neurons.

The hypothalamo-hypophyseal neurosecretory system of the parakeet, Melopsittacus undulatus
General and Comparative Endocrinology, 1961Abstract The hypothalamo-hypophyseal neurosecretory system of the parakeet, Melopsittacus undulatus, was studied with both light and electron microscopes. The neurosecretory centers consist of paired supraoptic nuclei and paraventricular nuclei. Each nucleus is divisible into medial and lateral cell groups. The neurosecretory axonal tracts arising in

Galanin in the Hypothalamo-Hypophyseal System
Neuroendocrinology, 1987In the rat median eminence immunoreactive galanin nerve fibers and terminals are present in high numbers in the external layer, and fibers in moderate numbers are seen in the internal layer. The possible sources of these galanin-containing fibers were studied by means of radioimmunoassay and immunohistochemistry in rats with different types of ...

The Hypothalamo-Hypophyseal System in Acipenseridae
General and Comparative Endocrinology, 1997Abstract The regeneration of the hypothalamo–hypophyseal system (HHS) has been studied in the sterlet following hypophysectomy (HypoX). Significant portions of non-apeptide and corticoliberinergic (CRH) neurosecretory cells (NSCs) underwent degeneration.

Chemical Neuroanatomy of the Hypothalamo-Hypophyseal System in Sturgeons
2017The preoptic-hypothalamo-hypophyseal system of sturgeons, located at the base of the brain, has a neurosecretory role exerted by hypophysiotropic neurons most of them located in the preoptic and hypothalamic periventricular region. The majority of those cells are of the cerebrospinal fluid-contacting type and exhibit short processes reaching the ...

The hypothalamo-hypophyseal neurosecretory system of Gegenophis carnosus Beddome
Zeitschrift fr Zellforschung und Mikroskopische Anatomie, 19571. The brain of Gegenophis carnosus Beddome resembles that of Ichthyophis glutinosus in general organisation. In size, shape and structure the hypophysis of Gegenophis differs from that of other groups of Amphibians. The pars nervosa is at the posterior tip of the hypophysis and is connected to the brain by a nervous tract. 2.

Hypothalamo-hypophyseal neurosecretory system inRana temporaria in early ontogenesis
Neuroscience and Behavioral Physiology, 1972The hypothalamo-hypophyseal neurosecretory system (HHNS) was investigated in tadpoles and immature frogs of the speciesRana temporaria. Heterochronia was established in the formation of the preoptic nucleus (earlier differentiation of neurosecretory cells in the dorsal than in the ventral part).

Hypothalamo-Hypophyseal System in Calamoichthys calabaricus smithi (Polypteriformes)
1978Polypteriformes are a singularly primitive group of African freshwater bony fishes, regarded as paleoniscid relicts, which are the extinct ancestors of the entire actinopterygian stock (MOY-THOMAS, 1939; ROMER, 1946). The hypothalamo-hypophyseal complex of Polypteriformes was studied from a general point of view by DODD and KERR (1963) and WINGSTRAND ...
