Cholecystokinin and morphine-induced hypothermia
European Neuropsychopharmacology, 1999The effects of cholecystokinin-8 sulfate (CCK-8), cholecystokinin-8 unsulfate (CCK-8U), cholecystokinin-4 (CCK-4), caerulein and morphine on mice core body temperature have been studied in the present work. Subcutaneous injection of different doses of caerulein (0.05, 0.1 and 0.5 mg/kg), CCK-8 (0.05, 0.1 and 0.25 mg/kg) and morphine (10, 20 and 30 mg ...

Stress and ethanol-induced hypothermia
Physiology & Behavior, 1987Three experiments examined the effects of three stressors on the hypothermic response to IP injection of ethanol in rats. Although all three stressors elicited hyperthermia in the absence of ethanol, only electric footshock reduced ethanol hypothermia. Handling/rectal-probing and bright, flashing light enhanced ethanol hypothermia.

Induced hypothermia has established indications in cardiac arrest in adults and in hypoxic-ischaemic encephalopathy in infants. Despite substantial research effort its application in the setting of trauma remains controversial. In head and spinal trauma mild cooling may help to limit secondary injury. In penetrating trauma, profound cooling at the time

Stress-induced hyperthermia and hypothermia
2018Stress affects core body temperature (Tc). Many kinds of stress induce transient, monophasic hyperthermia, which diminishes gradually if the stressor is terminated. Stronger stressors produce a longer-lasting effect. Repeated/chronic stress induces anticipatory hyperthermia, reduces diurnal changes in Tc, or slightly increases Tc throughout the day ...

Update on inducing hypothermia
Journal of Paramedic Practice, 2010In April 2010, JPP published an article, titled ‘Prehospital induction techniques: mild hypothermia during advanced life support’. Written by Stefano et al, this article explored the different techniques used to induce hypothermia during prehospital cardiovascular arrest.
