Application of humanized mice in the safety experiments of antibody drugs

open access: yesAnimal Models and Experimental Medicine, EarlyView.
The graphical abstract of this review highlights the critical role of humanized mice in the safety evaluation of antibody drugs. First, the inherent immunogenicity of antibody drugs can lead to the production of antidrug antibodies and hypersensitivity reactions on repeated administration.

Hypothermia amongst neonatal admissions in Kenya: a retrospective cohort study assessing prevalence, trends, associated factors, and its relationship with all-cause neonatal mortality

open access: yesFrontiers in Pediatrics
BackgroundReports on hypothermia from high-burden countries like Kenya amongst sick newborns often include few centers or relatively small sample sizes.ObjectivesThis study endeavored to describe: (i) the burden of hypothermia on admission across 21 ...

Prevalence of hypothermia on admission to recovery room remains high despite a large use of forced-air warming devices: Findings of a non-randomized observational multicenter and pragmatic study on perioperative hypothermia prevalence in France

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2019
Background Despite the availability of effective warming systems, the prevalence of hypothermia remains high in patients undergoing surgery. Occurrence of perioperative hypothermia may influence the rate of postoperative complications.

Impact of different anesthetic protocols during anesthesia for the establishment of a porcine model of acute kidney injury

open access: yesAnimal Models and Experimental Medicine, EarlyView.
This study details the adaptations required to establish a long‐term anesthetic protocol in pigs. Three protocols were evaluated, with some causing malignant hyperthermia, hypoglycemia, or hemoynamic instability. The final protocol proved effective for developing a porcine AKI model requiring adequate arterial pressure maintenance.

Towards the convergent therapeutic potential of G protein‐coupled receptors in autism spectrum disorders

open access: yesBritish Journal of Pharmacology, EarlyView., 2023
Abstract Autism spectrum disorders (ASDs) are diagnosed in 1/100 children worldwide, based on two core symptoms: deficits in social interaction and communication, and stereotyped behaviours. G protein‐coupled receptors (GPCRs) are the largest family of cell‐surface receptors that transduce extracellular signals to convergent intracellular signalling ...

A mouse model of lung ischemia–reperfusion injury with reversible left hilar entrapment

open access: yesAnimal Models and Experimental Medicine, EarlyView.
A Novel Reversible Left Hilar Entrapment Model for Mouse Lung Ischemia‐Reperfusion Injury with Visual Tracheal Intubation and Live Knot Technique. Abstract Lung ischemia–reperfusion injury (LIRI), an acute lung injury syndrome triggered by lung transplantation or distal organ ischemia, has long been a difficult and hot issue in clinical research.

Perioperative Neuroprotection with Systemic Hypothermia During Carotid Endarterectomy

open access: yesОбщая реаниматология
Prevention of brain injury during carotid endarterectomy (CEA) remains a significant challenge. Moderate controlled systemic hypothermia may serve as a potential neuroprotective measure during these procedures.Aim of the study.

Roadmap to Nanomedical Applications: Nanotoxicology and In Vitro Guidelines for Lanthanide‐Doped Luminescence Nanothermometers

open access: yesAdvanced NanoBiomed Research, EarlyView.
Lanthanide‐based luminescence nanothermometry holds multifaceted potential for nanomedical applications, yet despite significant research advances, clinical translation of the engineered nanomaterials is still controversial and widely disputed. This is related to crucial nanotoxicological aspects that must be addressed at the preclinical level ...
