Phytochemical Composition, In Vitro Antioxidant, Antibacterial, and Antibiofilm Activities of Thymus vulgaris Essential Oil From Tiaret, Algeria

open access: yesChemistry &Biodiversity, Volume 23, Issue 8, August 2026.
Thymus vulgaris essential oil (TvEO), largely composed of thymol, showed strong bactericidal activity with Staphylococcus aureus (S. aureus) being most sensitive. TvEO markedly inhibited MRSA biofilm formation and significantly reduced established biofilms. Molecular docking suggests several TvEO components interact with proteins involved in S.

Hand Lesions as a Diagnostic Clue in Unexplained SIADH

open access: yesClinical Case Reports, Volume 14, Issue 8, August 2026.
Chilblain‐like hand lesions in a patient with otherwise unexplained SIADH prompted evaluation for autoimmune connective tissue disease. (A) Hand lesions before treatment. (B) Marked improvement after topical difluprednate therapy. (C) Skin biopsy showing basal liquefaction/interface change with superficial perivascular lymphocytic infiltration.

Self‐Similar Blowup for the Cubic Schrödinger Equation

open access: yesCommunications on Pure and Applied Mathematics, Volume 79, Issue 8, Page 1831-1918, August 2026.
ABSTRACT We give a rigorous proof for the existence of a finite‐energy, self‐similar solution to the focusing cubic Schrödinger equation in three spatial dimensions. The proof is computer‐assisted and relies on a fixed point argument that shows the existence of a solution in the vicinity of a numerically constructed approximation.

Comparative Evaluation of the Antihyperglycemic Potential of Coccinia cordifolia and Gynura procumbens Leaf Extracts: Integrated Phytochemical, In Vivo, Molecular Docking, and DFT Investigations

open access: yesFood Science &Nutrition, Volume 14, Issue 8, August 2026.
Graphical abstract illustrating the overall experimental workflow and antidiabetic evaluation of Coccinia cordifolia and Gynura procumbens extracts. Plant materials were extracted and subsequently investigated through in vivo antidiabetic studies, density functional theory (DFT) analysis, and in silico molecular docking to identify potential bioactive ...

Effectiveness of Interventions for Interpersonal Functioning Among Adolescents With Posttraumatic Stress Symptoms: A Meta‐Analysis

open access: yesJournal of Adolescence, Volume 98, Issue 6, Page 1867-1883, August 2026.
ABSTRACT Introduction Adolescents with posttraumatic stress symptoms often experience interpersonal difficulties; however, the effectiveness of existing interventions in improving interpersonal functioning remains unclear. This meta‐analysis aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of current interventions on interpersonal functioning among adolescents with

Columnanidus calitzdorpensis ichnogen. ichnosp. nov: A new Middle Pleistocene subterranean termite trace fossil from South Africa

open access: yesJournal of Quaternary Science, Volume 41, Issue 6, Page 933-949, August 2026.
ABSTRACT Termites are landscape geo‐engineers whose nesting activities substantially modify the physical and chemical properties of soils. Fossilised termite nests commonly constitute the only identifiable evidence of ancient termite activity and represent valuable trace fossil archives for reconstructing past environments.

Increasing artificial light at night enhances salmonid predator foraging efficiency in an urbanized lake

open access: yesLimnology and Oceanography, Volume 71, Issue 8, August 2026.
Abstract Artificial light at night (ALAN) poses a threat to ecosystems globally. It includes both direct and indirect light, or skyglow, which occurs when ALAN scatters in the atmosphere, extending beyond its original source. We analyzed ALAN trends in Lake Washington, WA, from 2014 to 2023 using Visible Infrared Imaging Radiometer Suite (VIIRS ...

SMAA‐Based FITradeoff: An Efficient Framework for Pairwise Elicitation in Multicriteria Decision Analysis

open access: yesJournal of Multi-Criteria Decision Analysis, Volume 33, Issue 2, August 2026.
ABSTRACT The Flexible and Interactive Tradeoff Elicitation (FITradeoff) method is a Multi‐Attribute Decision‐Making (MADM) approach designed to capture the preferences of a Decision Maker (DM) while minimising cognitive effort. To reduce the frequency of interactions and optimise the preference elicitation process, this paper introduces an innovative ...

Jumping on the Bandwagon or Off the Sinking Ship: Electoral Support and Candidate Supply

open access: yesScandinavian Political Studies, Volume 49, Issue 3, August 2026.
ABSTRACT Local candidates are essential for democratic representation in local elections, yet the number of individuals willing to run for office continues to decline. This study examines the reciprocal relationship between electoral performance and candidate supply, arguing that electoral victories enhance a party's ability to attract candidates ...

Diltiazem N‐oxide, a novel ischaemia‐activated prodrug, prevents ischaemia‐induced ventricular fibrillation without off‐target adverse effects

open access: yesBritish Journal of Pharmacology, Volume 183, Issue 16, Page 4646-4662, August 2026.
Abstract Background and Purpose Ventricular fibrillation (VF) in coronary heart disease accounts for up to 70% of sudden cardiac death. We examined whether diltiazem N‐oxide (DNO) has ischaemia‐selective antiarrhythmic activity. Experimental Approach Randomised and blinded experiments were performed in rat isolated hearts and in anaesthetised rats to ...
