Contrasting deformation of S- and I-type granitoids in the Lachlan Fold Belt, eastern Australia

International Journal of Rock Mechanics and Mining Sciences & Geomechanics Abstracts, 1988
Abstract Several examples of contrasting deformation under greenschist facies conditions of closely associated, Silurian-Devonian S-type (peraluminous) and I-type (mainly metaluminous) granitoid plutons of very similar age occur in the Lachlan Fold Belt of eastern New South Wales, Australia.

Origin of high-potassium, talc-alkaline, I-type granitoids

Geology, 1993
Many I-type granitoid magmas are generated through partial melting of older metaigneous rocks, and the compositions of such melts are broadly calc-alkaline and metaluminous. These melts are granitic to tonalitic, and result from thermal extremes in their lower crustal source regions.
