An i-vector based descriptor for alphabetical gesture recognition [PDF]

open access: yes2014 IEEE International Conference on Acoustics, Speech and Signal Processing (ICASSP), 2014
An i-vector approach to extracting features for video camera based gesture recognition is proposed. Conventional low-level raw features, such as position, speed, and acceleration, are low-dimensional feature representations which often suffer from measurement noise and thus are not highly discriminative. High-level features, such as Fourier descriptor,

Anopheles ziemanni a locally important malaria vector in Ndop health district, north west region of Cameroon

open access: yesParasites & Vectors, 2014
Background Malaria transmission in Cameroon is mediated by a plethora of vectors that are heterogeneously distributed across the country depending on the biotope.

Multi-Virtual-Vector Model Predictive Current Control for Dual Three-Phase PMSM

open access: yesEnergies, 2021
This paper proposes a multi-virtual-vector model predictive control (MPC) for a dual three-phase permanent magnet synchronous machine (DTP-PMSM), which aims to regulate the currents in both fundamental and harmonic subspace.

Reciprocal control of viral infection and phosphoinositide dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Phosphoinositides, although scarce, regulate key cellular processes, including membrane dynamics and signaling. Viruses exploit these lipids to support their entry, replication, assembly, and egress. The central role of phosphoinositides in infection highlights phosphoinositide metabolism as a promising antiviral target.

The planar cell polarity protein Vangl2 interacts with the PDZ‐domains of Scribble but not with a unique PDZ‐like domain in Inturned

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Structural and biochemical characterisations show that the planar cell polarity (PCP) protein Inturned harbours a unique PDZ‐like domain that does not bind canonical PDZ‐binding motifs (PBMs) like that of another PCP protein Vangl2. In contrast, the apical‐basal polarity protein Scribble contains four PDZ domains that bind Vangl2, but one PDZ domain ...

The random component of mixer-based nonlinear vector network analyzer measurement uncertainty [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
The uncertainty, due to random noise, of the measurements made with a mixer-based nonlinear vector network analyzer are analyzed. An approximate covariance matrix corresponding to the measurements is derived that can be used for fitting models and ...

ECG Biometrics on Mobile Devices: High-Accuracy Authentication Using i-Vectors and Cepstral Coefficients

open access: yesIEEE Access
In recent years, the growing importance of personal data security has led to a rapid increase in demand for biometric authentication systems. This study proposes a biometric authentication method based on electrocardiogram (ECG) data that holds potential

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.
