I18 Diagnostic Laparoscopy for Non palpable Undescended Testis

2013
Approximately 1% of boys at age one year have an undescended testis, 20% of which are nonpalpable. Laparoscopy has replaced ultrasonography, magnetic resonance imaging and computerized tomography as the modality of choice for the localization of the nonpalpable testis; in some of these patients can eliminate the need for further exploration ...

I18 The Use Of Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation In Mapping Cortical Excitability And Inhibition In Huntington's Disease

Journal of Neurology, Neurosurgery & Psychiatry, 2014
Background A better understanding of pathophysiological abnormalities in key cortico-subcortical pathways in Huntington’s disease (HD) will enhance our understanding of the causal relationships between the gene mutation and symptomatology during disease progression. Aims Transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS), with a paired-pulse paradigm, was used

Abstract I18: Retooling a blood-based biomarker into a theranostic agent

Cancer Research, 2019
Abstract Over the past 30 years, our ability to noninvasively diagnose, localize, and treat many forms of cancer has grown significantly. However, the biomolecular basis of many malignancies—most notably pancreatic cancer—remains convoluted, and technical advances have not translated to significantly improved survival rates.

The development of a XEOL and TR XEOL detection system for the I18 microfocus beamline Diamond light source

Journal of Luminescence, 2013
Abstract We describe the design and capabilities of a new Continuous Wave X-ray Excited Optical Luminescence (CW-XEOL) and Time Resolved X-ray Excited Optical Luminescence (TR-XEOL) facility on the I18 beamline at the DIAMOND light source, the UK national synchrotron facility.

I18 Cancer chemopreventive effects of natural products with anti-inflammatory and pro-resolving activities

Biochemical Pharmacology, 2017
The implication of inflammation in the pathophysiology of human cancer is under intense investigation both at the research level and in clinical practice. Numerous studies have identified a series of critical molecules/changes in inflammatory signalling. Some of the key molecules involved in mediating proinflammatory signalling include NF-kB, STAT3, AP-

I18 The HDQoL depicts disease stages more comprehensively relative to generic quality of life measures: initial pilot data

Journal of Neurology, Neurosurgery & Psychiatry, 2016
Background The importance of determining the impact of Huntington’s disease (HD) on a person’s health is particularly relevant given the protracted course of this condition. For this reason, the disease specific Huntington’s disease quality of life (HDQoL) was developed directly from patients interviews in order to fully capture the experience of ...

Synthesis and crystal structures of two new reduced iodides of erbium with isolated monomeric and dimeric clusters, Cs[Er6C]I12 and Cs[Er10(C2)2]I18

Journal of the Chemical Society, Chemical Communications, 1992
The reduction of erbium triiodide with caesium in the presence of carbon yielded two new ternary reduced iodides of erbium as black single crystals, Cs[Er6C]I12 and Cs[Er10(C2)2]I18, containing the monomeric unit [Er6C] and the dimeric unit [Er10(C2)2] composed of two [Er6(C2)] octahedra sharing a common edge, respectively.
