Reassessing Electrolyte Design for Non‐Aqueous Magnesium Batteries: Atomistic Structures and Performance Optimization

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, Volume 38, Issue 5, 22 January 2026.
This review systematically examines recent advances in non‐aqueous electrolytes for rechargeable magnesium batteries, focusing on chlorine‐containing and chlorine‐free systems. It highlights the interdependent relationship between electrolyte compositions, atomistic structures, and electrochemical performance.

Inhibiting Liver‐Derived C3 Protein Rescues Anesthesia/Surgery‐Induced Cognitive Impairment, Synaptic Disorders, and Microglial Phagocytosis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 13, Issue 2, 9 January 2026.
This study provides evidence that anesthesia/surgery can induce the BBB breakdown and promote the release of hepatogenous C3 protein into the blood. This surgical dual factors ultimately drove C3 to cross the damaged BBB and selectively colocalize with C3aR in the hippocampus, which results in structural and functional injury of synapse, C3aR‐mediated ...

Midkine‐Mediated Microglia Activation after Renal Injury Promotes Cognitive Impairment Following Ischemic Renal Injury

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 13, Issue 3, 14 January 2026.
The mechanism of secondary cognitive impairment following AKI. When renal ischemic injury progresses to fibrosis, renal fibroblasts and damaged tubular cells secrete MDK, which circulates through the bloodstream, crosses the damaged BBB, and accumulates in the hippocampus tissue (an area crucial for learning and memory).

Morphine Tolerance Gated through EZH2‐Mediated Suppression of Trpc5 in Spinal GABAergic Interneurons in Male Mice

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 13, Issue 1, 5 January 2026.
Chronic morphine suppresses Trpc5 in spinal GABAergic interneurons via EZH2‐mediated histone modification, reducing Ca2+ influx and GABA release. TRPC5 activation enhances morphine analgesia, while EZH2 inhibition restores efficacy and reverses tolerance.
