km-length IBAD-MgO fabricated at 1 km/h by a large-scale IBAD system in Fujikura

Physica C: Superconductivity and Its Applications, 2010
Abstract A large-scale IBAD system with the world largest ion source was employed to fabricate ion beam-assisted deposition (IBAD) MgO films. Finally, we successfully fabricated a 1 km-length IBAD-MgO film at a production rate of 1 km/h. We also studied pulsed laser deposited (PLD) CeO 2 films directly on IBAD-MgO films.

Impurities in IBAD processes

1998 International Conference on Ion Implantation Technology. Proceedings (Cat. No.98EX144), 2002
Impurities in IBAD processes were discussed using radioactivation analysis with thermal neutrons. IBAD processes are useful for hard coatings. In this process, an ion source without a mass separator is normally used. So, contamination by filaments and electrodes is possible but had not been considered.

Deposition of metal nitrides by IBAD

Surface and Coatings Technology, 1998
Abstract Nitrides of metallic elements like Ti, Mo and Al were synthesized by ion beam-assisted deposition (IBAD). This technique was provided via dual ion beam deposition method in an apparatus based on two Kaufman ion beam sources. In our study an influence of the energy of assisting nitrogen ions (50–400 eV) and of the substrate temperature (up to

GaN-on-IBAD technology for microLED displays

Light-Emitting Devices, Materials, and Applications XXV, 2021
iBeam Materials is developing a revolutionary new technology to make paper-thin and ultra-flexible monolithic microLED displays. This new technology is based on using ion-beam crystal alignment to fabricate epitaxial GaN films on flexible metal foil. This approach will eliminate the traditional restrictions for the form factor of displays, redefining ...

Deposition of magnetic thin films by IBAD

Nuclear Instruments and Methods in Physics Research Section B: Beam Interactions with Materials and Atoms, 1999
Abstract Cobalt and nickel magnetic films were prepared by ion-beam assisted deposition method (IBAD). The main goal of the work was to study the influence of the assisting low-energy-argon-ion beam and substrate temperature on the characteristics and properties of the films, in particular on thickness, roughness, chemical composition, structure and ...
