Natural variation in the Caenorhabditis elegans egg-laying circuit modulates an intergenerational fitness trade-off

open access: yeseLife
Evolutionary transitions from egg laying (oviparity) to live birth (viviparity) are common across various taxa. Many species also exhibit genetic variation in egg-laying mode or display an intermediate mode with laid eggs containing embryos at various ...

The Polypeptides of Infectious Bronchitis Virus (IBV-41 Strain)

open access: yesJournal of General Virology, 1980
The Massachusetts strain of avian infectious bronchitis virus was purified from embryonated hens' eggs. Four major species of apparent mol. wt. 90 000, 52 000, 29 000 and 26 000 were resolved by SDS-polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis. Omission of reducing agent failed to resolve the 29 000 mol. wt. component.

Methodology of the biological risk classification of animal pathogens in Belgium [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
The biological hazards posed by micro-organisms have lead to their categorisation into risk groups and the elaboration of classification lists. Current classification systems rely on criteria defined by the World Health Organization, which cover the ...

Evidence of genetic diversity generated by recombination among avian coronavirus IBV

open access: yesArchives of Virology, 2000
Summary. Previously, we demonstrated that the DE072 strain of IBV is a recombinant which has an IBV strain D1466-like sequence in the S gene. Herein, we analyzed the remaining 3.8 kb 3′ end of the genome, which includes Gene 3, Gene 4, Gene 5, Gene 6 ...

Complete genome sequence analysis of a predominant infectious bronchitis virus (IBV) strain in China

open access: yesVirus genes, 2008
Infectious bronchitis (IB) is one of the major diseases in poultry flocks all over the world caused by infectious bronchitis virus (IBV). In the study, the complete genome sequence of strain A2 was sequenced and analyzed, which was a predominant IBV ...

A Framework for IBVS Using Virtual Work

open access: yesActuators
The visual servoing of manipulators is challenged by two main problems: the singularity of the inverse Jacobian and the physical constraints of a manipulator. In order to overcome the singularity issue, this paper presents a novel approach for image-based visual servoing (IBVS), which converts the propagation of errors in the image plane into the ...

Presence of Subgenomic mRNAs in Virions of Coronavirus IBV

open access: yesVirology, 1993
The presence of subgenomic mRNAs in virions of IBV was examined by probing Northern blots of RNA extracted from virions using as a probe a cDNA of the 3'-terminal nucleocapsid protein (N) gene. This detects all five mRNAs because of the 3'-coterminal, nested-set arrangement of coronavirus mRNAs.

Myosin1G promotes Nodal signaling to control zebrafish left-right asymmetry

open access: yesNature Communications
Myosin1D (Myo1D) has recently emerged as a conserved regulator of animal Left-Right (LR) asymmetry that governs the morphogenesis of the vertebrate central LR Organizer (LRO).

Influenza B viruses in swine: virus tropism in swine respiratory organ explant cultures [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Poster Session: Virology and Viral ReceptorsBackground: Swine has been considered an animal reservoir of pandemic influenza A virus (IAV), for example, the 2009 H1N1 pandemic virus, swine is acting as a “mixing vessel” for the reassortment of swine ...
