Initial-boundary value problems for integrable evolution equations with $3 \times 3$ Lax pairs

open access: yes, 2012
We present an approach for analyzing initial-boundary value problems for integrable equations whose Lax pairs involve $3 \times 3$ matrices. Whereas initial value problems for integrable equations can be analyzed by means of the classical Inverse ...

Coronavirus IBV: Structural Characterization of the Spike Protein

open access: yesJournal of General Virology, 1983
The spike protein (S; surface projection) of avian infectious bronchitis virus (IBV) strain M41 comprises two glycopolypeptides, S1 (mol. wt. 90 X 10(3] and S2 (mol. wt. 84 X 10(3], in equimolar proportions. The apparent mol. wt. of S was calculated as 354 (+/- 17) X 10(3) following co-sedimentation with catalase in sucrose gradients.

Clinical Assessment of the Effect of Hypericum perforatum Chewing Gum on Salivary Streptococcus mutans Count, pH, Plaque Index, and Gingival Bleeding: A Randomized Clinical Trial

open access: yesClinical and Experimental Dental Research, Volume 12, Issue 1, February 2026.
ABSTRACT Objectives Hypericum perforatum L. offers several beneficial effects, for example antioxidant, antitumor, wound healing. Our aim was to ascertain the effect of H. perforatum extract gum on salivary Streptococcus mutans count, pH, plaque index, and gingival bleeding. Materials and Methods A total of 54 participants were assigned into two groups

Astrocyte Senescence Impairs Synaptogenesis due to Thrombospondin‐1 Loss

open access: yesAging Cell, Volume 25, Issue 2, February 2026.
Senescent hippocampal astrocytes lose TSP secretion, impairing excitatory synaptogenesis via the α2δ‐1 pathway. Restoring TSP‐1 rescues synaptic formation, revealing the contribution of astrocyte senescence to age‐related hippocampal synaptic decline.

Natural variation in the Caenorhabditis elegans egg-laying circuit modulates an intergenerational fitness trade-off

open access: yeseLife
Evolutionary transitions from egg laying (oviparity) to live birth (viviparity) are common across various taxa. Many species also exhibit genetic variation in egg-laying mode or display an intermediate mode with laid eggs containing embryos at various ...

Molecular Epidemiology and Genetic Diversity of Influenza B Viruses Based on Whole‐Genome Analysis in Japan and Myanmar, 2016–2020

open access: yesInfluenza and Other Respiratory Viruses, Volume 20, Issue 2, February 2026.
ABSTRACT Background Influenza B virus (IBV) contributes to seasonal epidemics, but its molecular evolution is less defined than influenza A. We analyzed IBVs collected in Japan and Myanmar (2016–2020) to investigate lineage dynamics, reassortment, and genetic mismatch with vaccine strains. Methods Respiratory specimens from patients with influenza‐like

4‐nitrobenzoate inhibits 4‐hydroxybenzoate polyprenyltransferase in malaria parasites and enhances atovaquone efficacy

open access: yesFEBS Letters, Volume 600, Issue 2, Page 251-266, January 2026.
Atovaquone is an antimalarial requiring potentiation for sufficient efficacy. We pursued strategies to enhance its activity, showing that 4‐nitrobenzoate inhibits 4‐hydroxybenzoate polyprenyltransferase, decreasing ubiquinone biosynthesis. Since atovaquone competes with ubiquinol in mitochondria, 4‐nitrobenzoate facilitates its action, potentiating ...
