Unveiling the Role of Manganese Substitution in Nanocast Cobalt Oxide for Alkaline Water Electrolysis Performance

open access: yesChemCatChem, Volume 17, Issue 22, November 24, 2025.
Activity trends: A model system of Co3‐xMnxO4 was synthesized via nanocasting and evaluated for the oxygen evolution reaction (OER) in alkaline media. Increasing Mn content led to reduced OER activity. In situ Raman spectroscopy revealed Mn leaching from octahedral sites above 1.40 V versus RHE, indicating structural alteration under operating ...

Oblique focus ICCD laboratory evaluation [PDF]

open access: yes
An oblique focus intensified charge coupled device (ICCD) was constructed and operated in a vacuum system. Special gratings were obtained and an optical system set up to try to model a candidate UV spectrometer (Milieu Interstellaire et Intergalactique ...

Temporal Evolution Kinetics of Upconversion Population Distribution Resulting in Transient Luminescence Enhancement

open access: yesLaser &Photonics Reviews, Volume 19, Issue 22, November 19, 2025.
This work manipulates the nanosecond UCL kinetics in NaYF4:Er3⁺ UCNPs under wavelength‐dependent ns‐pulsed excitation, providing new insights into ns‐resolved transient UCL mechanisms. Based on this discovered mechanism, this work illustrates a manipulated kinetics with UCL boost, and validates the practical potential of transient UCL by UCNPs in ...

Evaluation and prediction of water-energy-food nexus under land use changes in the Yellow River Basin, China

open access: yesSustainable Futures
Scientific understanding of the changes in the Water-Energy-Food (WEF) nexus is crucial for regional development. As the spatial foundation of human activities, land use plays a pivotal role in shaping WEF nexus relations.

Sol‐gel derived S53P4 bioactive glass

open access: yesJournal of the American Ceramic Society, Volume 108, Issue 11, November 2025.
Abstract Here, we report the first synthesis of amorphous sol‐gel bioactive glass of the S53P4 (53.8 mol% SiO2, 21.8 mol% CaO, 22.7 mol% Na2O, and 1.7 mol% P2O5) composition. Sol‐gel‐derived bioactive glasses have higher surface area and, therefore, biodegrade faster and have higher bioactivity compared to their melt‐derived counterparts.

Quantifying high dimensional entanglement with two mutually unbiased bases

open access: yes, 2017
We derive a framework for quantifying entanglement in multipartite and high dimensional systems using only correlations in two unbiased bases. We furthermore develop such bounds in cases where the second basis is not characterized beyond being unbiased ...
