Hiding in plain sight: the evolving definition of chronic breathlessness and new ICD-11 wording

The International Classification of Disease (ICD-11) has adopted three timeframes for dyspnoea: acute, subacute and chronic, the latter despite underlying causes being optimally treated. Breathlessness, a word patients use, is now a synonym for dyspnoea.
