CCDC80 suppresses high‐grade serous ovarian cancer migration via negative regulation of B7‐H3

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
PAX8 is a lineage‐specific master regulator of transcription in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer (HGSC) progression. We show for the first time that PAX8 facilitates proliferation and metastasis by repressing the cell autonomous tumor suppressor CCDC80 and inducing B7‐H3 expression.

The last glaciation of Shetland : local ice cap or invasive ice sheet?

open access: yes, 2013
Issue ISBN: 978-82-92-39488-5 This work is supported by the Carnegie Trust for the Universities of ScotlandThe question of whether the Shetland Islands were covered by an ice cap or by an ice sheet during the last glacial cycle (40–10 ka) remains ...

Warm ocean is eroding West Antarctic Ice Sheet [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
Satellite radar measurements show that ice shelves in Pine Island Bay have thinned by up to 5.5 m yr^{-1} over the past decade. The pattern of shelf thinning mirrors that of their grounded tributaries-the Pine Island, Thwaites and Smith glaciers- and ...

KDM7A and KDM1A inhibition suppresses tumour promoting pathways in prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Treatment resistance is a major challenge for patients with advanced prostate cancer. This study examined an alternative approach to target the major prostate cancer‐promoting pathway by targeting epigenetic factors, whose levels are higher in tumours.

Evidence for the stability of the West Antarctic Ice Sheet divide for 1.4 million years [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Past fluctuations of the West Antarctic Ice Sheet (WAIS) are of fundamental interest because of the possibility of WAIS collapse in the future and a consequent rise in global sea level.

Heterozygous loss‐of‐function alleles associate the conserved 3′‐5′ exoribonuclease EXOSC10 with hypersensitivity to the anticancer drug 5‐fluorouracil

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
EXOSC10, an essential nuclear RNA exosome‐associated 3′‐5′ exoribonuclease, is inhibited by the anticancer drug 5‐fluorouracil (5‐FU), and EXOSC10 depletion increases 5‐FU sensitivity. The colon‐cancer variant EXOSC10S402T, located in a proteolysis motif, is stable and nuclear but nonfunctional in vivo.

Numerical Simulation Studies of Ultrasonic De-Icing for Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning, and Refrigeration Structures

open access: yesEnergies
Ice accumulation on heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration (HVACR) structures presents significant operational challenges. These challenges include reduced efficiency, increased energy consumption, and potential damage to equipment ...

Evaluation of Operation IceBridge quick-look snow depth estimates on sea ice

open access: yes, 2015
We evaluate Operation IceBridge (OIB) ‘quick-look’ (QL) snow depth on sea ice retrievals using in situ measurements taken over immobile first-year ice (FYI) and multi-year ice (MYI) during March of 2014. Good agreement was found over undeformed FYI (-4.5

Cell‐cycle‐specific lesion evolution rather than inhibition of double‐strand‐break repair underpins cisplatin radiosensitization

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We analyze cisplatin–DNA adducts (CDAs) and double‐strand breaks (DSBs) in a cell‐cycle‐dependent manner. We find that CDAs form similarly across all cell cycle phases. DSBs arise only in S‐phase. CDAs might not directly impair DSB repair, but S‐phase DSB lesions evolve in the presence of CDAs and disrupt repair in G2, also causing radiosensitization ...

Dynamic Characteristic of System Thermal Conductivity during the Process of Water-ice Phase Change

open access: yesZhileng xuebao, 2018
The Hot Disk thermal constant analyzer based on transient plane source technology is used to study the variation in ice thermal conductivity during the formation and melting.
