IC cloud: Enabling compositional cloud
International Journal of Automation and Computing, 2011Cloud computing has attracted great interest from both academic and industrial communities. Different paradigms, architectures and applications based on the concept of cloud have emerged. Although many of them have been quite successful, efforts are mainly focusing on the study and implementation of particular setups.

Compressive strength of ice and cellulose-ice composite
2016This paper aims to give an insight into the compressive strength of the icecellulose composite which was recently used to build two challenging reinforced ice structures in Juuka, Finland: (1) a large reinforced arch bridge inspired by Leonardo Da Vinci and (2) a hypar shell inspired in Félix Candela.

To gain insight into the influence of the composition of ice composites on the compressive strength ofthe ice composites cubes an experimental analysis have been done. Each ice composite cube consists ofa material combination of different fractions of sand, water, Xanthan gum, Guar gum, regular celluloseand nano cellulose.

Ice Composition and Ice Flow: a General View
1991From the perfect gas law, one can write $$ V\cdot\frac{P}{T} = V_0 \cdot\frac{{P_0 }}{{T_0 }}, $$ (1) where V is the total amount of gas present per gram of a polar ice sample at the standard temperature T and the standard pressure P; V0 is the pore volume when the pores are finally closed off in the firn at temperature T0 and air pressure P0.

Sublimation of composite ice and its influence on performance of ice shells
International Journal of Space Structures, 2021The long-span ice composite shell structure is a new type of ice and snow structure developed in recent years. The engineering practice of ice composite shell shows that sublimation is one of the important reasons for its damage and even collapse. In this paper, we firstly supplemented the existing H-K equation and obtained the revised ice sublimation ...

Structural experiments with ice composite shells
2016ABSTRACT: Ice can be a very suitable building material for temporary structures in a freezing environment. When water, mixed with small fibre reinforcements, is sprayed onto an inflatable membrane structure in suitablecold outdoor conditions, a thin shell is formed which increases thickness layer after layer.

Ultraviolet Spectroscopy and the Composition of Cometary Ice
Science, 1983Our current knowledge of the composition of the cometary nucleus is largely inferred from observations of the gas and dust comae that are produced by sublimation of cometary ice when a comet is near the sun. During the past decade, far-ultraviolet spectroscopy from above the terrestrial atmosphere has shed new light on the physics and chemistry of the ...

On development of fibre-ice-composites
Cold Regions Science and Technology, 1993Abstract The problems of creating ice composites of high strength by the reinforcement of ice with fibre are discussed. It has been found efficient to use fibreglass for this purpose and it is proposed to use a fibreglass net or fibreglass cloth. The results of bending tests and compression tests of such ice composites are given.

The determination of ice composition with instruments on cometary landers
Acta Astronautica, 1997The determination of the composition of materials that make up comets is essential in trying to understand the origin of these primitive objects. The ices especially could be made in several different astrophysical settings including the solar nebula, protosatellite nebulae of the giant planets, and giant molecular clouds that predate the formation of ...

The Isotopic Composition of Methane in Polar Ice Cores
Science, 1988Air bubbles in polar ice cores indicate that about 300 years ago the atmospheric mixing ratio of methane began to increase rapidly. Today the mixing ratio is about 1.7 parts per million by volume, and, having doubled once in the past several hundred years, it will double again in the next 60 years if current rates continue.
