Activity of comet 103P/Hartley 2 at the time of the EPOXI mission fly-by
Comet 103P/Hartley~2 was observed on Nov. 1-6, 2010, coinciding with the fly-by of the space probe EPOXI. The goal was to connect the large scale phenomena observed from the ground, with those at small scale observed from the spacecraft. The comet showed

The water permeability of amorphous carbon dots (CDs) is demonstrated by investigating their plasticization. Novel polyamide‐based and amorphous nanoparticles are synthesized by controlling their inner packing density. Water plasticization is evidenced by the decrease of the CDs glass transition temperature with increasing the hydration degree.

Complexity in dislocation dynamics: model
We propose a numerical model to study the viscoplastic deformation of ice single crystals. We consider long-range elastic interactions among dislocations, the possibility of mutual annihilation, and a multiplication mechanism representing the activation ...

This review systematically summarizes recent advances in porosity engineering of MXenes, with a focused discussion on their structure‐governed energy storage properties. A critical analysis of structure–property relationships is presented across alkali‐ion batteries, multivalent‐ion batteries, and supercapacitors.

The 3.1 micrometer ice band in infrared reflection nebulae [PDF]
Recent observations show that infrared reflection nebulae are common phenomena in star forming regions. Extensive observations were made of two nearby infrared reflection nebulae, Orin Molecular Cloud 2 IRS1 (OMC-2/IRS1) and Cepheus A IRS6a (Cep-A/IRS6a).

Polymorph‐Specific Electronic Transduction in WO3 during Molecular Sensing
Metal‐oxide polymorphs with similar surface chemistry can nevertheless exhibit distinct sensing properties. In γ‐ and ε‐WO3, analyte adsorption appears comparable; yet, only ε‐WO3 induces a pronounced lattice electronic perturbation that accommodates charge in sub‐conduction band minimum states.

Ice shelf evolution combining flow, flexure, and fracture
Ice shelves regulate ice sheet dynamics, with their stability influenced by horizontal flow and vertical flexure. MacAyeal and others (2021) developed the theoretical foundation for a coupled flow-flexure model (the “M21 model”), combining the Shallow ...
