Analysis of the meteorological situation in the conditions of icing and ice
The article is devoted to the study of the problem of ensuring the safety of aircraft on the territory of the Republic of Belarus and, directly, on the territory of the Minsk airfield. Icing and ice are some of the most dangerous meteorological phenomena

Variations of indicative dates of ice regime on Lake Onego based on ground air temperature
The paper shows the changes in the dates (complete freeze-up, ±5 days/°C and complete ice clearance, ±3 days/°C) of the ice regime in Lake Onego depending on changes in average air temperature within the preceding two-month periods (autumn and spring ...

Interference phenomena at backscattering by ice crystals of cirrus clouds
It is shown that light backscattering by hexagonal ice crystals of cirrus clouds is formed within the physical-optics approximation by both diffraction and interference phenomena. Diffraction determines the angular width of the backscattering peak and interference produces the interference rings inside the peak.

Valuing the Greenland ice sheet and other complex geophysical phenomena [PDF]
For the last 40 y, economists have worked to put monetary values on environmental amenities to facilitate the cost–benefit analysis (CBA) of alternative policies (1⇓–3). The motivation is simple: Policy choices inevitably require trade-offs. Resources devoted to climate change mitigation are resources not spent on curing diseases, improving education ...

Ice shelf evolution combining flow, flexure, and fracture
Ice shelves regulate ice sheet dynamics, with their stability influenced by horizontal flow and vertical flexure. MacAyeal and others (2021) developed the theoretical foundation for a coupled flow-flexure model (the “M21 model”), combining the Shallow ...
