Lidar Backscatter from Horizontal Ice Crystal Plates

Journal of Applied Meteorology, 1978
Abstract Some unusual lidar returns from an altostratus cloud are interpreted in terms of reflections from hexagonal ice plates falling with their long axes aligned in the horizontal. Such an explanation is consistent with the observed high backscatter coefficients and low depolarization ratios and also with the temperature range (−12 to −20°C) of the ...

Simulations of Ice Nucleation by Model AgI Disks and Plates

The Journal of Physical Chemistry B, 2016
Silver iodide is one of the most effective ice nuclei known. We use molecular dynamics simulations to investigate ice nucleation by AgI disks and plates with radii ranging from 1.15 to 2.99 nm. It is shown that disks and plates in this size range are effective ice nuclei, nucleating bulk ice at temperatures as warm as 14 K below the equilibrium ...

Cooling architectures using thermal sidewalls, interchip plates, and bottom plate for 3D ICs

2017 18th International Symposium on Quality Electronic Design (ISQED), 2017
Thermal management for three-dimensional integrated circuits (3D ICs) is becoming a crucial challenge. In this paper, we propose new cooling architectures using thermal sidewalls, interchip plates, and a bottom plate (thermal-SIB architectures) for 3D systems that have a power dissipation of several tens to a couple of hundred W/cm2 as a vertical ...

The Influence Surface Method for Floating Ice Plates

Canadian Geotechnical Journal, 1975
In order to simplify the calculations of bending moments in floating ice plates subjected to slowly moving loads or static loads of short duration, influence functions for infinite plates floating on a liquid are derived and then presented graphically in the form of influence charts. The presented charts and analyses are based on the elastic theory of

A Reexamination of Riming on Thin Ice Plates

Journal of the Atmospheric Sciences, 1977
Abstract The investigation of Pitter and Prappacher (1974) was reexamined including the effect of changing drag on the accelerating water drops and the effect of the drop flow field on the ice crystal. The present results indicate that drops greater than 10 µm collide with ice crystals at higher efficiencies than found earlier.

Next generation copper pattern plating for IC package application

2015 10th International Microsystems, Packaging, Assembly and Circuits Technology Conference (IMPACT), 2015
This paper describes the study of a new pattern plate, direct current (DC) electrolytic copper plating chemistry for IC package (PKG) application. The new chemistry shows good via-filling performance and good pattern plate uniformity together with thinner surface copper deposit.

Palladium plating: A lead free finish for IC leadframes

1995 Proceedings. 45th Electronic Components and Technology Conference, 2002
Concern has grown recently over the amount of lead (Pb) used in electronic products and manufacturing environments. In response, the electronics industry has begun investigating alternatives to traditional tin/lead (Sn/Pb) solders. Several consortia are working to determine the feasibility of Pb-free solder alloys.
