Ice Regimes Encountered during the USCGC Healy Ice Trials.
Part of the Canadian contribution to the USCGC Healy Ice Trials was to provide complete documentation of the ice regimes encountered during the first stage of the Ice Trials. During its voyage from Halifax, Canada to Nuuk, Greenland the ship transited 118 different ice regimes. An overview of the voyage is presented using eight of those regimes.

Surge motion of an ice floe in waves: comparison of theoretical and experimental models
A theoretical model and an experimental model of surge motions of an ice floe due to regular waves are presented. The theoretical model is a modified version of Morrison's equation, valid for small floating bodies.

Melting dynamics of large ice balls in a turbulent swirling flow
We study the melting dynamics of large ice balls in a turbulent von Karman flow at very high Reynolds number. Using an optical shadowgraphy setup, we record the time evolution of particle sizes.

Snowpack thermal regime controls ice layer permeability
Increased occurrence of high melt summers across Arctic ice caps and the Greenland Ice Sheet creates thicker, more numerous ice layers within the near surface snow and firn of their accumulation zones.

Coherent Radio Pulses From GEANT Generated Electromagnetic Showers In Ice
Radio Cherenkov radiation is arguably the most efficient mechanism for detecting showers from ultra-high energy particles of 1 PeV and above. Showers occuring in Antarctic ice should be detectable at distances up to 1 km.

Spin liquid regimes at nonzero temperature in quantum spin ice
Quantum spin liquids are highly entangled ground states of quantum systems with emergent gauge structure, fractionalized spinon excitations, and other unusual properties. While these features clearly distinguish quantum spin liquids from conventional, mean-field-like states at zero temperature (T), their status at T>0 is less clear.

Transition Between Mechanical and Geometric Controls in Glacier Crevassing Processes
Herein, fast fracture initiation in glacier ice is modeled using a Material Point Method and a simplified constitutive law describing tensile strain softening.

Ice Regime Shipping System pictorial guide
This book was developed as a reference guide for the Arctic Ice Regime Shipping System (AIRSS). It is a pictorial guide that outlines the four steps that are needed to apply the Ice Regime System. First, the user characterizes the Ice Regime. Second, the Class-dependent Ice Multipliers are obtained.

Assessment of atmospheric circulation impacts on the Caspian Sea level and ice regime
The research aimed to assess the influence of atmospheric processes in the Northern Hemi-sphere’s Atlantic-European Sector on the Caspian Sea level based on the data for the days with Wangenheim-Girs atmospheric general circulation forms.
