The loss of Arctic sea ice is a conspicuous example of climate change. Climate models project ice-free conditions during summer this century under realistic emission scenarios, reflecting the increase in seasonality in ice cover.

We analyze cisplatin–DNA adducts (CDAs) and double‐strand breaks (DSBs) in a cell‐cycle‐dependent manner. We find that CDAs form similarly across all cell cycle phases. DSBs arise only in S‐phase. CDAs might not directly impair DSB repair, but S‐phase DSB lesions evolve in the presence of CDAs and disrupt repair in G2, also causing radiosensitization ...

Regime characteristics and patterns of the sea ice drift on the shelf at Magadan in the Okhotsk Sea
The sea ice characteristics and drift patterns are considered for the Okhotsk Sea shelf at Magadan on retrospective data of the ice observations and satellite images. Spatial heterogeneity of the sea ice parameters and its drift is shown.

ICE and the Unquestioned Human Cost of Efficiency: A Moral Reckoning [PDF]
This paper examines how the concept of economic efficiency is utilized by the United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) through three frameworks, to excuse human rights violations in the name of a productive and efficient deportation ...

Thermal conductivity of quantum magnetic monopoles in the frustrated pyrochlore Yb2Ti2O7 [PDF]
We report low-temperature thermal conductivity $\kappa$ of pyrochlore Yb$_2$Ti$_2$O$_7$, which contains frustrated spin-ice correlations with significant quantum fluctuations.

Ixazomib inhibits proteasome‐mediated degradation of topoisomerase I induced by irinotecan, thereby restoring drug sensitivity and promoting tumor cell death in colorectal cancer. Irinotecan, a topoisomerase I (topoI) inhibitor, is widely used for colorectal cancer, but resistance remains a major clinical challenge.

Modern characteristics of the ice regime of the Lower Yenisei
In the current conditions of climate change, the relevance of the rivers’ ice regime studies is growing. Special features of rivers’ ice regime are a significant component of the transport infrastructure use and, as a consequence, social/economic ...

Estimation of the age of ice hummocks in the freezing seas
A method of estimating the ice ridge age proposed in the 1990s was analyzed and some disadvantages of this method were shown. Analysis of the ice thickness distribution in the ice ridges demonstrated that in many cases the average value of the thickness ...

Mixed mode oscillations in a conceptual climate model [PDF]
Much work has been done on relaxation oscillations and other simple oscillators in conceptual climate models. However, the oscillatory patterns in climate data are often more complicated than what can be described by such mechanisms.

ZFAS1 is a lncRNA promoting cell proliferation and migration, exhibiting high expression in various cancers. It is conserved, widely expressed, and produces multiple splice variants with unclear roles. We identified several splice variants in hepatocyte models, and found that inhibiting or suppressing regulators of the unfolded protein response (PERK ...
