A last glacial ice sheet on the Pacific Russian coast and catastrophic change arising from coupled ice–volcanic interaction [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Controversy exists over the extent of glaciation in Eastern Asia at the Last Glacial Maximum: complete ice sheet cover vs. restricted mountain icefields (an area discrepancy equivalent to 3.7 Greenland Ice Sheets).

Toward Noninvasively Imaging pH at the Surface of Implanted Orthopedic Devices in Live Rabbits Using X‐ray Excited Luminescence Chemical Imaging

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Imaging pH in a live rabbit at the surface of a sensor‐coated titanium plate using X‐ray excited luminescent chemical imaging (XELCI). A raster scanning X‐ray beam generates radioluminescence from a spot on the sensor, and the luminescence passes through the tissue and is collected at two wavelengths to determine local pH.

New Constraints on the Timing and Pattern of Deglaciation in the Húnaflói Bay Region of Northwest Iceland Using Cosmogenic 36CA Dating and Geomorphic Mapping

open access: yes, 2017
Understanding the evolution and timing of changes in ice sheet geometry and extent in Iceland during the Last Glacial Maximum (LGM) and subsequent deglaciation continues to stimulate much active research.

Graphene‐Enhanced Plasmonic Interfaces: A General Strategy for Highly Sensitive Detection of Biomolecular Interactions

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Monolayer graphene coating significantly enhances the sensing performance of conventional SPR biosensors. Its impact is evaluated using biologically relevant models, including antibody‐virus and peptide‐cell interactions. Graphene‐enhanced SPR enabled specific virus detection via antibodies and effective cell type discrimination using synthetic ...

Projecting Antarctica's contribution to future sea level rise from basal ice shelf melt using linear response functions of 16 ice sheet models (LARMIP-2)

open access: yesEarth System Dynamics, 2019
. The sea level contribution of the Antarctic ice sheet constitutes a large uncertainty in future sea level projections. Here we apply a linear response theory approach to 16 state-of-the-art ice sheet models to estimate the Antarctic ice sheet ...

Evolving Understanding of Antarctic Ice‐Sheet Physics and Ambiguity in Probabilistic Sea‐Level Projections [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Mechanisms such as ice‐shelf hydrofracturing and ice‐cliff collapse may rapidly increase discharge from marine‐based ice sheets. Here, we link a probabilistic framework for sea‐level projections to a small ensemble of Antarctic ice‐sheet (AIS ...

Ice cores and SeaRISE: What we do (and don't) know [PDF]

open access: yes
Ice core analyses are needed in SeaRISE to learn what the West Antarctic ice sheet and other marine ice sheets were like in the past, what climate changes led to their present states, and how they behave.

Response of a zonal climate-ice sheet model to the orbital perturbations during the Quaternary ice ages [PDF]

open access: yes, 1980
The astronomical theory of the ice ages is investigated using a simple climate model which includes the ice sheets explicitly. A one-level, zonally averaged, seasonal energy-balance equation is solved numerically for sea-level temperature T as a function

3D‐Printed Multidimensional Bionic Mg‐MC/PLGA Composite for Tailored Repair of Segmental Long Bone Defects

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
This study develops 3D‐printed Mg‐MC/PLGA scaffolds with varying Mg concentrations (0–20%). The 5% Mg scaffold shows optimal cytocompatibility, osteogenic activity in vitro, and significantly enhances bone regeneration in rabbits, improving bone volume and mechanical strength.

The influence of glacial landscape evolution on Scandinavian ice-sheet dynamics and dimensions [PDF]

open access: yesThe Cryosphere
The Scandinavian topography and bathymetry have been shaped by ice through numerous glacial cycles in the Quaternary. In this study, we investigate how the changing morphology has influenced the Scandinavian ice sheet (SIS) in return.
