A Eurasian Ice-Sheet Study Using A Combined Ice-Sheet/ Ice-Shelf Numerical Model [PDF]

open access: yesAnnals of Glaciology, 1990
A numerical model which simultaneously computes grounded and ice-shelf flow was used to develop an equilibrium ice-sheet–ice-shelf system over Eurasia and the Arctic region. Present-day net accumulation rates and mean annual and July temperature values were used as base values for climatic variable specifications.

A Cryopreservation‐Based Supply Chain Strategy for Extrusion Bioprinting in Space

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
Extrusion bioprinting on crewed space platforms requires a bioink that stays functional along the logistic chain. Here, cells and biomaterial ink travel separately, the cells cryopreserved and the ink cold stored, and are combined only minutes before printing.

The Greenland Ice Sheet Large Ensemble (GrISLENS): simulating the future of Greenland under climate variability [PDF]

open access: yesThe Cryosphere
The Greenland ice sheet has lost ice at an increasing pace over recent decades, driven by a combination of human-caused climate change and internal variability in the climate system.

Switch-off of a major enhanced ice flow unit in East Antarctica [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
The East Antarctic Ice Sheet (EAIS) is the largest reservoir of ice on the planet by an order of magnitude. Compared with the West Antarctic Ice Sheet (WAIS), it is traditionally considered to be relatively stable, with only minor adjustments to its ...

In‐House Manufacturing of 3D ECM Culture Chips via Vacuum Thermoforming for Enhanced Imaging Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
Desktop vacuum thermoforming enables rapid, low‐cost fabrication of 96‐channel polystyrene culture chips with very thin imaging interfaces. The resulting platform supports cell lines, primary cells, and patient‐derived organoids, and enables high‐resolution confocal microscopy and single‐cell visualization, providing an accessible approach for advanced

Recent trends in melting conditions on the Antarctic Peninsula and their implications for ice-sheet mass balance and sea level [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
Long-term records from meteorological stations on the Antarctic Peninsula show strong rising trends in the annual duration of melting conditions. In each case, the trend is statistically significant and represents a major increase in the potential for ...

A study of the dynamics of the British Ice Sheet during Marine Isotope Stages 2 and 3, focusing on Heinrich Events 2 and 4 and their relationship to the North Atlantic glaciological and climatological conditions [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
A high-resolution investigation into the stratigraphy of core MD95-2006 from the Barra fan, NW Scottish continental slope has been carried out. The study focuses on key palaeoceanographic proxies (percentage Neogloboquadrina pachyderma (s), planktonic ...

Co‐Delivery of Sustained Release Chondroitinase ABC‐37 With Human iPSC‐Derived Neural Progenitors Promotes Transplant Survival and Functional Recovery in a Rodent Model of Stroke

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A regenerative strategy for stroke combines human stem cell–derived neural progenitor cells with sustained release of a matrix‐modifying, thermostable chondroitinase ABC‐37 enzyme. In a rat model of stroke, co‐delivery enhanced transplanted cell survival and neuronal differentiation, degraded inhibitory extracellular matrix components, and improved ...

Using Sea-Level Data to Constrain the Contribution of the Greenland Ice Sheet to Contemporary and Recent Sea-Level Change [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Due to the potentially wide-reaching impacts on climate and sea-level change of a declining Greenland Ice Sheet (GrIS), the mass balance of the past decade has caused concern that the ice sheet is reacting to increased temperatures of the industrial era ...
