The Mathematical Model of Ice Sheets and the Calculation of the Evolution of the Greenland Ice Sheet [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Glaciology, 1985
Abstract An evolutionary mathematical model of ice sheets is presented. The model takes into account the basic climatic and geophysical parameters, with temperature parameterization. Some numerical data derived from experiments on the Greenland ice sheet are received.

Performance portable ice-sheet modeling with MALI

open access: yesThe International Journal of High Performance Computing Applications, 2023
High-resolution simulations of polar ice sheets play a crucial role in the ongoing effort to develop more accurate and reliable Earth system models for probabilistic sea-level projections. These simulations often require a massive amount of memory and computation from large supercomputing clusters to provide sufficient accuracy and resolution ...

Microbial nitrogen cycling on the Greenland Ice Sheet [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Nitrogen inputs and microbial nitrogen cycling were investigated along a 79 km transect into the Greenland Ice Sheet (GrIS) during the main ablation season in summer 2010. The depletion of dissolved nitrate and production of ammonium (relative to icemelt)

Coupled Climate‐Ice‐Sheet Simulations Reveal Novel Teleconnection Between Northern Hemisphere Ice Sheets and the Antarctic Ice Sheet

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters
Coupled climate‐ice‐sheet modeling is still in its developing stage, and feedback processes between ice sheets and climate are still not yet fully understood.

An ice-sheet scale comparison of eskers with modelled subglacial drainage routes [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Eskers record the signature of channelised meltwater drainage during deglaciation providing vital information on the nature and evolution of subglacial drainage.

Conserved binding mode but diverse interfaces of MreC‐PBP2 interactions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The crystal structure of abMreC reveals a conserved two β‐barrel architecture and provides structural insights into its role within the bacterial elongasome. The abMreC–abPBP2 complex model identifies the molecular basis of MreC‐mediated PBP2 recognition, contributing to the regulation of peptidoglycan synthesis.

The impact of spatially varying ice sheet basal conditions on sliding at glacial time scales

open access: yesJournal of Glaciology, 2023
Spatially variable basal conditions are thought to govern how ice sheets behave at glacial time scales (>1000 years) and responsible for changes in dynamics between the core and peripheral regions of the Laurentide and Fennoscandian ice sheets.

The Shewanella oneidensis Fic enzyme SoFic targets the switch‐I region of EF‐Tu for AMPylation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Fic enzymes mediate diverse post‐translational modifications across all domains of life, including AMPylation. Prokaryotic EF‐Tu can be AMPylated and deAMPylated by the conserved Fic enzyme SoFic. Structural and biochemical approaches were used to characterize the effect of AMPylation on EF‐Tu, SoFic's enzymatic activities, and the enzyme‐target ...

A balanced water layer concept for subglacial hydrology in large-scale ice sheet models [PDF]

open access: yesThe Cryosphere, 2013
There is currently no doubt about the existence of a widespread hydrological network under the Antarctic Ice Sheet, which lubricates the ice base and thus leads to increased ice velocities.

A stratigraphic link across 1100 km of the Antarctic Ice Sheet between the Vostok ice-core site and Titan Dome (near South Pole) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2000
Isochronous internal ice-sheet layering, measured from airborne 60 MHz radar, was traced between Lake Vostok and the Titan Ice Dome (100 km from South Pole Station), Antarctica. Three layers were selected between Ridge B and Titan Dome, and between Ridge
