Pre-late Devensian high-arctic marine deposits in SW Scotland [PDF]
We present new interpretations of Digital Elevation Model (DEM) data and marine fossils collected from three sites on the Rhins of Galloway which, contrary to recent proposals, suggest that the landforms and deposits of the region do not represent ...

Effects of excess ground ice on projections of permafrost in a warming climate
In permafrost soils, ‘excess ice’, also referred to as ground ice, exists in amounts exceeding soil porosity in forms such as ice lenses and wedges.

Methane Content in Ground Ice and Sediments of the Kara Sea Coast
Permafrost degradation of coastal and marine sediments of the Arctic Seas can result in large amounts of methane emitted to the atmosphere. The quantitative assessment of such emissions requires data on variability of methane content in various types of ...

Enhancing Low‐Temperature Performance of Sodium‐Ion Batteries via Anion‐Solvent Interactions
DOL is introduced into electrolytes as a co‐solvent, increasing slat solubility, ion conductivity, and the de‐solvent process, and forming an anion‐rich solvent shell due to its high interaction with anion. With the above virtues, the batteries using this electrolyte exhibit excellent cycling stability at low temperatures. Abstract Sodium‐ion batteries

Ice Wedge Casts in the Corton Beds [PDF]
The occurrence of casts of ice wedges indicative of a permafrost environment in the Pleistocene Corton beds of Norfolk, England, indicates that deposition of the beds took place in a cold period between the two advances of the Lowestoft glaciation.

Europa, Another Water Moon? [PDF]
Comparing Europa to Earth's size and oceans, this resource tells the story of the Galileo spacecraft's exploration of Europa in the late 1990's, and explains why scientists believe there may be an ocean of water underneath Europa's icy crust. Educational

Laser‐Induced Graphene from Waste Almond Shells
Almond shells, an abundant agricultural by‐product, are repurposed to create a fully bioderived almond shell/chitosan composite (ASC) degradable in soil. ASC is converted into laser‐induced graphene (LIG) by laser scribing and proposed as a substrate for transient electronics.
