Characteristics of secondary droplets produced by the impact of drops onto a smooth surface

open access: yesAdvances in Aerodynamics, 2021
This work investigates the splashing behaviors of droplets impacting on solid surfaces and mainly focuses on the characteristics of secondary droplets. According to the experimental results, two different splashing patterns, corona splash and levitating ...

Investigations on Hot Air Anti-Icing Characteristics with Internal Jet-Induced Swirling Flow

open access: yesAerospace
The tangential jet-induced swirling flow is a highly efficient technology for enhancing heat transfer. This paper explores the application of swirling flow of an airfoil/aero-engine in a hot air anti-icing chamber, aiming to improve the anti-icing ...

Cloudphysical Parameters in Dependence on Height above Cloud Base in Different Clouds. [PDF]

open access: yes, 1989
On flights with the DLR icing research aircraft the dependence of aircraft icing on cloudphysical parameters was determined; both for aircraft-referred icing and for normalized icing, as well as for various clouds and locations in clouds.

Transient temperature field prediction on anti-icing wing surface based on convolutional temporal networks

open access: yesKongqi donglixue xuebao
Electric heating for anti-icing is a crucial technique to prevent icing on aircraft wings. Accurate prediction of transient temperature fields on the anti-icing surface of a wing is essential for optimizing the design of electric heating systems.

Crosstalk between the ribosome quality control‐associated E3 ubiquitin ligases LTN1 and RNF10

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Loss of the E3 ligase LTN1, the ubiquitin‐like modifier UFM1, or the deubiquitinating enzyme UFSP2 disrupts endoplasmic reticulum–ribosome quality control (ER‐RQC), a pathway that removes stalled ribosomes and faulty proteins. This disruption may trigger a compensatory response to ER‐RQC defects, including increased expression of the E3 ligase RNF10 ...

Performance Analysis of Electro-Impulse De-icing Device for Overhead Ground Wire

open access: yesAdvances in Electrical and Computer Engineering, 2022
The icing disaster of the overhead ground wire seriously affects the safe and stable operation of the power grid system. Compared with the traditional thermal ice melting technology, the mechanical de-icing technology has obvious advantages such as ...

An upstream open reading frame regulates expression of the mitochondrial protein Slm35 and mitophagy flux

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals how the mitochondrial protein Slm35 is regulated in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The authors identify stress‐responsive DNA elements and two upstream open reading frames (uORFs) in the 5′ untranslated region of SLM35. One uORF restricts translation, and its mutation increases Slm35 protein levels and mitophagy.

Sequence determinants of RNA G‐quadruplex unfolding by Arg‐rich regions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We show that Arg‐rich peptides selectively unfold RNA G‐quadruplexes, but not RNA stem‐loops or DNA/RNA duplexes. This length‐dependent activity is inhibited by acidic residues and is conserved among SR and SR‐related proteins (SRSF1, SRSF3, SRSF9, U1‐70K, and U2AF1).
