ICMP: an Attack Vector against IPsec Gateways [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
In this work we show that the Internet Control Message Protocol (ICMP) can be used as an attack vector against IPsec gateways. The main contribution of this work is to demonstrate that an attacker having eavesdropping and traffic injection capabilities ...

Real‐Time Detection and Prevention of DoS Attack in Unmanned Marine Vehicles Using Machine Learning

open access: yesSECURITY AND PRIVACY, Volume 9, Issue 2, March/April 2026.
ABSTRACT Unmanned marine vehicles (UMVs) are one of the most crucial components of the underwater communication and surveillance system in the marine and oceanographic environment. This research introduces a novel approach to stabilize the connection in an unstable underwater environment by inheriting features of communication velocities.

Phylogenetic Analysis of Allorhizobium vitis Strains in the Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, Canada

open access: yesPlant Pathology, Volume 75, Issue 2, March/April 2026.
Four clades containing Okanagan Valley Allorhizobium vitis strains formed following phylogenetic analysis, displaying both genetic similarity and dissimilarity with similar grapevine host origins. ABSTRACT Grapevine crown gall (GCG), characterised by the formation of galls and root necrosis, is an economically devastating disease that affects ...

Draft genome sequences of three Pectobacterium strains causing blackleg of potato: P. carotovorum subsp. brasiliensis ICMP 19477, P. atrosepticum ICMP 1526, and P. carotovorum subsp. carotovorum UGC32 [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Blackleg is a disease caused by several species of Pectobacterium that results in losses to potato crops worldwide. Here, we report the draft genomes of three taxonomically and geographically distinct blackleg-causing strains of Pectobacterium: P ...

A Two‐Phase Detection Method Based on Ensemble Feature Fusion for Detecting Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) Attacks in Cloud Computing Using Deep Learning Algorithm

open access: yesEngineering Reports, Volume 8, Issue 2, February 2026.
This study introduces a two‐phase method for detecting DDoS attacks in cloud environments using ensemble feature fusion and a hybrid CNN‐LSTM model. By combining meta‐heuristic feature selection with deep learning, the approach achieves over 99% accuracy on benchmark datasets, reducing false positives and improving cybersecurity resilience.

A Review of Software for Designing and Operating Quantum Networks

open access: yesAdvanced Quantum Technologies, Volume 9, Issue 2, February 2026.
A quantum network can be organized following a three‐plane abstraction: infrastructure, logical, and control. A taxonomy of the network functions of the control plane is proposed, and the state of the art in software for quantum networks is discussed. A guide for future directions on software development is provided.

Imaging and controlling plasmonic interference fields at buried interfaces

open access: yesNature Communications, 2016
Visualizing surface plasmon polaritons at buried interfaces has remained elusive. Here, the authors develop a methodology to study the spatiotemporal evolution of buried near-fields within complex heterostructures, enabling the characterization of the ...

Cardiac incoordination induced by left bundle branch block: its relation with left ventricular systolic function in patients with and without cardiomyopathy

open access: yesCardiovascular Ultrasound, 2008
Background Although left bundle branch block (LBBB) alters the electrical activation of the heart, it is unknown how it might change the process of myocardial coordination (MC) and how it may affect the left ventricular (LV) systolic function.
