Quasiperiodic packings of fibres with icosahedral symmetry
Acta Crystallographica Section A Foundations of Crystallography, 1999Different icosahedral packings of fibres have been experimentally realized. A packing construction with straight fibres of the same circular cross section, only parallel to fivefold icosahedral axes and respecting the closest packing condition, is reported.

Fractals of 3D stars with icosahedral symmetry
Journal of Physics: Condensed Matter, 2020The method for constructing 3D fractals of stars with icosahedral symmetry is proposed. A great stellated dodecahedron (I) and a small stellated dodecahedron (D) were selected as building elements. The faces of the polyhedra are equal in size. The initial polyhedron (I or D) is replicated and the copies are placed so that its centres coincide with the ...

Hierarchic multishell structures with icosahedral symmetry
Journal of Alloys and Compounds, 2002Abstract Icosahedral quasicrystals are generally divided into the Mackay icosahedron (MI) type and the Frank–Kasper (F–K) type based on the multishell icosahedral structural motifs in their related crystalline phases. Their different hierarchic icosahedral structures have been discussed separately in the past.

Quasiperiodic Patterns with Icosahedral Symmetry
1987This lecture deals with the theory of quasiperiodic tilings, and more generally with quasiperiodic patterns. We present the ideas introduced in [9] and developed in [10].

ChemInform Abstract: C60 Has Icosahedral Symmetry.
ChemInform, 1991AbstractChemInform is a weekly Abstracting Service, delivering concise information at a glance that was extracted from about 100 leading journals. To access a ChemInform Abstract of an article which was published elsewhere, please select a “Full Text” option. The original article is trackable via the “References” option.

Icosahedral symmetry adaptation of |JM〉 bases
Molecular Physics, 2002The behaviour of the orbital and spin harmonic kets |JM〉 under the icosahedral double group I∗ is described by means of the irreducible icosahedral representations in a D2 quantization. Real and complex forms are discussed. The results are listed in practical subduction tables, both for integer (J = 1 → 6) and half-integer (J = 1/2 → 11/21 harmonics.

A Face Centered Icosahedral Approximant Phase with Local Icosahedral Symmetry
1992An approximant phase in the Al-Cu-Ru system, isostructural with α—AIMnSi, is described and compared with the face-centered icosahedral phase. The existence of this phase confirms the notion that the structures of simple and face-centered icosahedral alloys are closely related, differing perhaps by the atomic decorations of the quasicrystalline lattice.

Close-packed structure and icosahedral symmetry
Philosophical Magazine B, 1988Abstract The structures of the pentagonal and icosahedral symmetry are derived on the basis of various arrangements of atomic tetrahedra and octahedra assuming minimal distortions and deformations. The icosahedral structures consist of two interpenetrating networks, one of which is composed of groups of four icosahedra and the other of bisected diamond-

A crystal field of icosahedral symmetry
Proceedings of the Royal Society of London. Series A. Mathematical and Physical Sciences, 1957It is shown that the crystalline electric field at a rare-earth ion in the double nitrates approximates to one possessing icosahedral symmetry. The effect of this on the energy level system of a rare-earth ion is investigated with the aid of group theory, and an application is made to the paramagnetic resonance in dysprosium double nitrate.
