A Global Account of Established Non-Native Fish Species. [PDF]

open access: yesGlob Chang Biol
This study compiles the most complete global database of non‐native fish species that have successfully established themselves in new freshwater and marine environments. It documents 1535 species across 193 countries, identifies their main introduction routes—such as aquarium trade, aquaculture, and artificial waterways—and highlights that many ...

Phylogenetic relationships of the North American catfishes (Ictaluridae, Siluriformes): investigating the origins and parallel evolution of the troglodytic species.

open access: yesMolecular Phylogenetics and Evolution, 2023
Insular habitats have played an important role in developing evolutionary theory, including natural selection and island biogeography. Caves are insular habitats that place extreme selective pressures on organisms due to the absence of light and food ...

Environmental DNA Reveals the Fish Community Structure Exhibited Instability and Trend of Miniaturization in the Xijiang River Basin of the Guizhou. [PDF]

open access: yesEcol Evol
Monitoring of fish communities is of great significance for the management and sustainability of river ecosystems. Environmental DNA (eDNA) metabarcoding technology has been demonstrated to be a highly sensitive biomonitoring tool. Nevertheless, it has seldom been tested in mountainous rivers within the geographically complex Karst region.

Identifying Recruitment Sources Across Trophic Levels in a Large River Food Web. [PDF]

open access: yesEcol Evol
We quantified the recruitment sources of predators and their consumed prey across space and time in the Upper Mississippi River. Prey recruited more often than predators from tributaries to the mainstem river, indicating a direct (predators themselves) and indirect (consumed prey) use of tributaries to sustain predator populations.

Morphometry and meristics of two species of Ictalurus (Siluriformes: Ictaluridae), native catfishes of Sierra Madre occidental, Mexico

open access: yesRevista de Biología Tropical, 2020
Introduction: Morphotypes of native catfish of the genus Ictalurus (Siluriformes: Ictaluridae) are known to occur in allopatry in the northern Sierra Madre Occidental of Mexico, with only the Yaqui catfish (Ictalurus pricei) taxonomically described ...

Pisces, Siluriformes, Ictaluridae, Ictalurus punctatus (Rafinesque, 1818): first record in middle Paranapanema river reservoir, aquaculture and exotic species dispersion [PDF]

open access: yesCheck List, 2010
This is the first report of Ictalurus punctatus in the middle Paranapanema river basin; the occurrence of this species may be associated with the expansion of pisciculture in cage farms in the Brazilian territory as a whole.

Microsatellite variability analysis in farmed catfish (Ictalurus punctatus) from Tamaulipas, Mexico

open access: yesGenetics and Molecular Biology, 2007
Analysis of cultured catfish from six farms in Tamaulipas, Mexico was achieved using a combination of microsatellite PCR analysis and semiautomatic fluoresce-based detection, in order to provide a first assessment of the genetic variability on cultured ...

Fish and amphibians as bat predators [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Although bats (Chiroptera) belong to the most diverse mammalian orders, study of diversity of their natural predators has been seriously neglected for a long time.
