Temporal distribution of ichthyoplankton in the Ivinhema River (Mato Grosso do Sul State/ Brazil): influence of environmental variables

open access: yesNeotropical Ichthyology, 2011
Information on ichthyoplankton is an important tool in determining reproduction periods that - if associated to environmental variables - allows for inferences about the factors that regulate their intensity, beginning, and ending.

A study of the undersanpling problem of fish larvae observed at the fixed stations in south Brazil

open access: yesBrazilian Journal of Oceanography, 1977
The problem of daytime undersampling of larvae observed at two fixed stations made in the spawning ground of the Brazilian sardine is discussed. The size frequency composition of sardine is also discussed.

open access: yes, 2018
ABSTRACT: During autumn 2014, between 03°30’S and 10°S, 94 zooplankton samples were collected using a Hensen net (300 μm) by vertical trawls 50 m deep to the surface. Biovolumes fluctuated between 0.5 and 50.0 mL/sample, with a mean of 10.9 mL/sample. Biovolumes between 5.1 and 10.0 mL/sample were more frequent (40.4%) than biovolumes larger than 20 mL/

Identification of fish nursery areas in a free tributary of an impoundment region, upper Uruguay River, Brazil

open access: yesNeotropical Ichthyology, 2012
This study aims to determine the importance of different environments of the Ligeiro River (upper Uruguay River, Brazil) in fish reproduction. For this purpose, three environments (sampling sites) were selected: rapids, a pool, and the mouth of the ...

Ichthyoplankton distribution and abundance in the northern Todos os Santos and Camamu Bays, Bahia State - Brazil

open access: yesBrazilian Journal of Oceanography, 2011
The occurrence, distribution and abundance of ichthyoplankton in Todos os Santos and Camamu Bays were analyzed based on four samplings (winter 2003, summer 2003, winter 2004 and summer 2005). Samples were obtained by surface horizontal hauls, using a 200-
