Protein pyrophosphorylation by inositol pyrophosphates — detection, function, and regulation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Protein pyrophosphorylation is an unusual signaling mechanism that was discovered two decades ago. It can be driven by inositol pyrophosphate messengers and influences various cellular processes. Herein, we summarize the research progress and challenges of this field, covering pathways found to be regulated by this posttranslational modification as ...

Supercapacitor assisted LDO (SCALDO) techniquean extra low frequency design approach to high efficiency DC-DC converters and how it compares with the classical switched capacitor converters [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Supercapacitor assisted low dropout regulators (SCALDO) were proposed as an alternative design approach to DC-DC converters, where the supercapacitor circulation frequency (switching frequency) is in the order of few Hz to few 10s of Hz, with an output ...

Bistability in sine-Gordon: the ideal switch

open access: yes, 2005
The sine-Gordon equation, used as the representative nonlinear wave equation, presents a bistable behavior resulting from nonlinearity and generating hysteresis properties. We show that the process can be understood in a comprehensive analytical formulation and that it is a generic property of nonlinear systems possessing a natural band gap.

The newfound relationship between extrachromosomal DNAs and excised signal circles

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Extrachromosomal DNAs (ecDNAs) contribute to the progression of many human cancers. In addition, circular DNA by‐products of V(D)J recombination, excised signal circles (ESCs), have roles in cancer progression but have largely been overlooked. In this Review, we explore the roles of ecDNAs and ESCs in cancer development, and highlight why these ...

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Fault Detection Method for Permanent Magnet Synchronous Generator Wind Energy Converters Using Correlation Features Among Three-phase Currents

open access: yesJournal of Modern Power Systems and Clean Energy, 2020
In a permanent magnet synchronous generator (PMSG) system, conversion systems are major points of failure that create expensive and time-consuming problems. Fault detection is usually used to achieve a steady system.

A Detailed Model of the Switched-Resistor Technique

open access: yesIEEE Open Journal of Circuits and Systems, 2021
The Switched-Resistor (S-R) approach is gaining popularity among integrated circuits designers because it allows to implement very high equivalent resistances, and thus very large time constants, in CMOS circuits.

Reduction of total harmonic distortion in power inverters [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
The output voltage of PWM power inverters shows harmonic distortion due to several causes; the main ones are the modulation algorithm, nonlinearities in the output filter, dead times, voltage drops across the switches and modulation of the dc bus voltage.
