Software: Practice and Experience, EarlyView.ABSTRACT Background We must fix ill‐formed UTF‐16 strings, where surrogate pairs are mismatched. Programming languages such as JavaScript provide functions that replace mismatched surrogates with the Unicode replacement character (U + FFFD). Objectives We seek to accelerate the correction of ill‐formed UTF‐16 strings.

The local geometry of idempotent Schur multipliers

Determination of the one‐electron reduced Wigner function for a molecular crystal
Acta Crystallographica Section A, EarlyView.The first reconstruction of an experimental one‐particle reduced Wigner function for electrons in molecular crystals is reported. It relies on an ensemble N‐representable model jointly refined from the X‐ray diffraction and Compton scattering data.The Wigner function provides a complete phase‐space representation of a quantum state.

CoRR, 2013 Together with a characteristic function, idempotent permutations uniquely determine idempotent maps, as well as their linearly ordered arrangement simultaneously. Furthermore, in-place linear time transformations are possible between them. Hence, they may be important for succinct data structures, information storing, sorting and searching.
