The Dynamic Identity Fusion Index

Social Science Computer Review, 2015
We introduce a computer-based measure of “identity fusion,” a form of group alignment characterized by a visceral feeling of oneness with a group. Past measures of identity fusion (a single pictorial item and a 7-item verbal scale) have demonstrated a unique capacity to predict willingness to engage in extreme pro-group behaviors (e.g., fighting and ...

Temporal dynamics of partisan identity fusion and prosociality during the 2016 U.S. Presidential Election

open access: yesSelf and Identity, 2018
We investigated the dynamics of identity fusion and prosocial behavior within political groups in the four weeks preceding and following the 2016 U.S. Presidential Election.

Identity fusion: The interplay of personal and social identities in extreme group behavior.

Journal of Personality and Social Psychology, 2009
The authors propose that when people become fused with a group, their personal and social identities become functionally equivalent. Two hypotheses follow from this proposition. First, activating either personal or social identities of fused persons should increase their willingness to endorse extreme behaviors on behalf of the group.

Identity Fusion or Fission?

2007
This chapter examines how queer educational administrators negotiate their sexual identity given the context of their professional lives. Through in-depth interviewing, data were gathered on the remembered experiences and reflections of six gay school administrators, one man and five women. A cross categorical analysis was then conducted with interview

On the nature of identity fusion: Insights into the construct and a new measure.

Journal of Personality and Social Psychology, 2011
Previous research has documented the consequences of feeling fused with a group; here we examine the nature of identity fusion. Specifically, we sought to determine what fusion is and the mediating mechanisms that lead fused individuals to make extraordinary sacrifices for their group. Guided by the assumption that fusion emphasizes the extent to which

Fusion of multiple features for identity estimation

IET Conference on Crime and Security, 2006
In a visual surveillance application where a network of cameras is used to observe many people, there are numerous situations where the consistent identification of a person is an important component in the system. There are many approaches to describing the appearance of a person.

An Identity Identification Method for Multi-biometrics Fusion

2019
In order to improve the reliability and security of biometric-based identity authentication system and reduce the risk of unauthorized access caused by forgery feature attacks, this paper proposes a method for identifying the identity of visitors. The method is based on D-S evidence theory.

A Fingerprint and Voiceprint Fusion Identity Authentication Method

2019
In the traditional biometric identification scheme, the single fingerprint feature points are used for identification, or the single voiceprint is used as the authentication standard, and it is difficult to obtain a good accuracy in a complicated environment. Different biometrics have different advantages, disadvantages and applicable scenarios.

A geometrical model for the fusion of identical nuclei

Journal of Physics G: Nuclear Physics, 1982
Propounds a one-parameter family of shapes for the fusion of two identical nuclei. This family continuously covers the whole deformation range from two tangential spherical fragments to the sphere resulting from their fusion. Simple analytical formulae are given for the various dynamical parameters of the system.

Fusion of structured projections for cancelable face identity verification

2011 International Joint Conference on Biometrics (IJCB), 2011
This work proposes a structured random projection via feature weighting for cancelable identity verification. Essentially, projected facial features are weighted based on their discrimination capability prior to a matching process. In order to conceal the face identity, an averaging over several templates with different transformations is performed ...
