Iduronate sulfatase from human placenta
Biochimica et Biophysica Acta (BBA) - General Subjects, 1985The major enzyme component of iduronate sulfatase from human placenta was purified 30 000-fold by a five-step procedure. Sucrose gradient centrifugation of the native enzyme gave a molecular weight estimate of 80 000 +/- 10 000. Electrophoresis in sodium dodecyl sulfate of the enzyme reduced with mercaptoethanol showed a protein band of Mr 82 000.

An assay for iduronate sulfatase (hunter corrective factor)
Carbohydrate Research, 1974Abstract A substrate for α- l -idopyranosyluronic acid 2-sulfate 2-sulfohydrolase (iduronate sulfatase), the enzyme deficient in the Hunter syndrome, was prepared by deaminative cleavage of heparin and subsequent reduction of the disulfated disaccharide fragment with sodium borotritide, to give O -(α- l -idopyranosyluronic acid 2-sulfate)-(1→4)-2,5 ...

Identification of iduronate-2-sulfatase in mouse pancreatic islets
American Journal of Physiology-Endocrinology and Metabolism, 2004The lysosomal enzyme iduronate-2-sulfatase (IDS) is expressed in pancreatic islets and is responsible for degradation of proteoglycans, such as perlecan and dermatan sulfate. To determine the role of IDS in islets, expression and regulation of the gene and localization of the enzyme were investigated in mouse pancreatic islets and clonal cells. The Ids

The Mouse Iduronate Sulfatase Gene: Identification of a Novel Transcript
Biochemical and Biophysical Research Communications, 1993Complementary DNAs, cDNAs, coding for iduronate sulfatase (IDS, E.C.3.1.6.13) have been isolated and characterized in man and mouse. The murine cDNA (MTA16) was highly homologous to the human counterpart. By screening the same mouse thymus cDNA library another cDNA (MTA13) was isolated: it is 1831 bp long and is identical to a part of the MTA16 cDNA in

“Supercharged Cells” for Delivery of Recombinant Human Iduronate-2-Sulfatase
Molecular Genetics and Metabolism, 2000Expression of iduronate-2-sulfatase (IDS) from three different promoters in four retroviral vectors was studied in peripheral blood lymphocytes from patients with Hunter syndrome (PBL(MPS)), i.e., the LTR in vectors L2SN and L2, avian beta-actin promoter in LB2, and the CMV early promoter in LNC2.

Identification of iduronate sulfatase gene alterations in 70 unrelated Hunter patients
Clinical Genetics, 1998We studied 70 unrelated Hunter patients and found a gene alteration in every patient. The molecular heterogeneity was very important. Large gene rearrangements were identified in 14 patients. Forty‐three different mutations were identified in the 56 other patients and 31 were not previously described.

Brain-Penetrating IgG-Iduronate 2-Sulfatase Fusion Protein for the Mouse
Drug Metabolism and Disposition, 2012Mucopolysaccharidosis (MPS) type II (Hunter's syndrome) is caused by mutations in the iduronate 2-sulfatase (IDS) fusion protein. MPS-II affects the brain, and enzyme replacement therapy is not effective in the brain, because the enzyme does not cross the blood-brain barrier.

Expression of the two iduronate-2-sulfatase cDNAs.
Biochemistry and molecular biology international, 1995The iduronate-2-sulfatase (IDS) is a lysosomal enzyme that acts on sulphate groups on C-2 positions of the iduronic acid residues of the mucopolysaccharides heparan sulphate and dermatan sulphate. Recently, we described in mouse two IDS mRNAs: the first or canonic (MTA16), highly homologous to the human counterpart, the second or novel (MTA13 ...
